🖤Indya & Josh🖤

They met at uni, and somewhere along the way, became each other’s favourite person.

A sky threatening rain, a few stolen moments together, and a dance floor full of people who were just as happy to be there as they were.

Mandoon Estate, a little film-inspired feel, and the kind of connection that makes you forget the camera is even there.

Some days just have a feeling about them. This was one of those days.

A Wedding Open Day, with a little less of the expo and a lot more of the experience. 🤍

We’re doing things a little differently at our upcoming Open Day at The Mallard Duck.

Rather than filling the venue with rows of suppliers and displays, we’re keeping things simple and creating the feeling of a real wedding day.

The venue will be fully styled for both ceremony and reception, with our dedicated WAEU wedding team there to show you exactly what’s included in our ALL-INCLUSIVE WEDDING PACKAGES.
We’ll also have a small selection of our trusted preferred suppliers joining us — chosen to complement the day and showcase some of the beautiful options available for your wedding.
So, come along, have a drink, enjoy some roaming canapés and live music, explore the venue, meet the team and our preferred suppliers, and simply relax.

Take your time, enjoy the beautiful setting and watch the sun set over the lake.

There’ll also be some amazing door prizes, generously donated by our team and suppliers, plus an exclusive booking incentive:
The first 5 couples to book their wedding within two weeks of the Open Day will receive $1,000 OFF their wedding package.

No crowds, no pressure and no endless rows of wedding stands.

Just a beautiful venue, a real wedding setup and the chance to experience what your own day at The Mallard Duck could look and feel like.

Before you lock in your ceremony & reception timing, look up your wedding date on https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/australia/perth You can check the exact sunset time for any future date in Perth, even if you’re getting married in 2028 and beyond!!!

Here’s why it matters:
✨ If you’re dreaming of pink or golden sunset portraits, you’ll want to plan time in your timeline to sneak away for 10–15 minutes before the sun disappears.
✨ If you’re getting married in late April, May or winter, a ceremony starting at 4:30 pm or later can mean walking back down the aisle with very little daylight left. Depending on your venue and your priorities, you might consider:
• Moving your ceremony earlier
• Taking your wedding party & family portraits before the ceremony with a First Look then sneak out for a sunset session after the ceremony & congratulations
Different times of the year gives you different lighting, every sunset is different, which is one of the reasons I still love capturing every wedding day even after (almost) 20 years.

While I won’t be at Weddings at The Vines Resort for the Swan Valley Wedding Open Day I thought I would share some images for anyone looking at this option on Sunday.

The Vines is such a great option for couples wanting everything in one place. You can get ready on site, say your vows in the beautiful open-air chapel, and celebrate with all your favourite people without having to travel between locations.

And as a photographer, I absolutely love that they provide a buggy to whisk us around for portraits—it means we can make the most of all the gorgeous spots around the property while keeping things relaxed and fun.

Some of my favourite places for photos are the paperbark trees, the bougainvillea when it’s in full bloom, the little vineyard when the leaves start turning in autumn, and of course the rolling fairways at sunset. The soft backlight across the greens is pure magic and always gives us those dreamy, glowy images that couples love.

If you’re heading to the Swan Valley Wedding Open Day, make sure The Vines is on your list. It really does have a little bit of everything. 🤍

Thinking of checking out The Mallard Duck for your wedding venue this Sunday but not sure about portrait locations close by?

Here are a few of my favourite to check out on the day & come say hello to me on Sunday & I can drop you the map pins to a couple of close locations to get to via car.

Image 1: day or night the ceremony entrance arch makes for a showstopper - thanks for the extra sparkles

Image 2 & 3: Behind the reception marquee is a line of olive trees which filter in some amazing afternoon backlight! My favourite spot to try to get some rainbow flare & gorgeous hazy light all times of the year.

Image 4&5: The field at the back of the venue. The best place to take advantage of the afternoon light, for hazy light in late spring/summer to the golden autumn light from March to May.

Image 6: The prickly pear! Just a bit different & fun

Image 7: Having a toast while walking to the vines

Image 8-10: Technically not on the property but we can cross a road and we have a whole vineyard to work with!

Image 11-13: About a 2 minute drive from The Duck is a little dead end street with a gorgeous overgrown track & a lovely farm fence. Easy for your charter vehicle to pull up and let your whole bridal party out.

Image 14-16: Not even 5 minutes in the opposite direction is another quiet street a field one side, a jasmine covered wall on the opposite side & another opportunity to walk down the road with gorgeous backlight!

Image 17: Finish your portraits off with a cheers in front of The Mallard Duck then go in and enjoy your reception perfectly run by the team at Wedding & Events Unlimited

✨Brookleigh Estate ✨
Brookleigh Estate feels like a little escape to the countryside. From the stunning grounds to the beautiful architecture and lakeside views, every corner is photogenic.
It’s the kind of venue that gives you that destination wedding feeling while keeping all your favourite people close to home. You can meet some of the Wedding & Events Unlimited team at Brookleigh on the Swan Valley Wedding Open Day who put together Alex & Brad’s epic wedding under the flowering jacarandas last November

The is on next Sunday and I will be at The Mallard Duck 🤍

If you’re venue hunting, this is such a beautiful spot with the lakeside ceremony decking, plenty of little pockets for relaxed portraits so no need to go offsite but plenty of other options if you do, and a wedding reception venue that can be anything that you need, with grass and open air sit-down/cocktail reception options and the marque options for cooler months.

I have loved being apart of the team at Wedding & Events Unlimited for the last few years and getting to shoot at this unique venue.

If you’re heading along to the Open Day, take your time, soak it all in, and imagine how your day could feel there, not just how it could look.
