It's been a while but we had to make a comeback with something worthwhile. Quokkas!!!!
We finally made it to Rottnest Island 'Rotto' for a cracker little day trip. We biked around most of the island pretending to look at beaches when all I was doing was looking for Quokka's. Bucket list ticked! A bonus Osprey just tomake my day.

PIE REVIEW *****

FINALLY a pie Steve felt was worth reviving his pie review for. Pinjarra Bakery's pepper pie.hype: Pinjarra Bakery awarded best pie in Australia.
Verdict: so good I smashed it in only a few mouth watering bites. With pastry cooked to perfection and filled to the brim with a lovely peppery mince gravy. Yum yum, it's in my tum.
Washed down with a sausage roll chaser I walked away a very happy fella.
Epilogue: PB have 4 bakeries and a pie crawl that is now on our WA agenda.

Where's Steve?
Having fun in Mandurah catching up with amazing friends we met in Exmouth. When people ask us about our favourite places, we always say it's not about the place, it's about the people. 🥰

Freeeeeo. We're in the big smoke, well Fremantle dog sitting and latte sipping. Today we did the tourist thing and Zena got to fire the 1pm canon at the Roundhouse. We are loving the joint so much we could move here!

Toodyay (pronounced Too-jay) in the Avon Valley about 80kms NE of Perth. What a quaint little town. A bit like Berry, Kangaroo Valley or Trentham. A lovely bush caravan park, a Cola museum, convict trail, award winning sausage rolls, an all year round Christmas shop, more birds than you can poke a stick at and an archery course. Glad we ventured away from the coast for this stop. *archery vid and evidence of Steve's attempt to cheat in the comments 🙄

Yanchep National Park wrap. Who doesn't love a park with its own pub? A bit of an institution in these parts, the Yanchep Inn is right next to the camp ground. Bonus. Also, a lovely park with great trails, a huge cave network, wildlife and wild flowers. Highly recommend a stopover and only an hour north of Perth.

We could all do with some cute furry marsupials on our timeline, couldn't we? We're in Yanchep National Park, WA and they have Koalas!! How they hang on and sleep is pretty amazing considering they are usually high on eucalyptus. 🐨🥰

We went back to the dunes for some sand board action. It was blowing a gale and a lot harder than it looks but we had some fun. Highly recommend if you're in this neck of the woods. Board hire is $10 a day.

As we slowly make our way South we've found ourselves in Lancelin, about 1.5 hrs north of Perth. Famous for water sports and sand dunes. So far we have done the dunes by fat bike and buggy. SO. MUCH. FUN. We'll be heading back in the week to drive them. What a great town. Dune video in comments.

Another bloody gorge (or 2) and they were gorgeous... 🙄
Z Bend and Four Ways Trail and Eagle Gorge, Kalbarri National Park. And still so many wildflowers. Quite lovely.
