We would like to provide a recommendation for those who would like to stay at Flinders Chase, Kangaroo Island.
Recently we stayed a couple of nights at “Postmans Cottage”. The cottage is heritage listed and has been restored and extended after being destroyed in the 2019/20 fires. It comfortably fits 2 persons and has an open plan lounge/kitchen with a fireplace. The bedroom has a queen bed and plenty of cupboard space. The large bathroom designed for those with disabilities.
At the time of our visit the Cape Barren Geese were nesting right outside our door and also had young goslings to make you feel clucky.
The Platypus Hiking Trail is nearby and easily walkable from the cottage.
Remarkable Rocks are a 20 minute (slow) drive away, so perfectly situated for those wishing to undertake sunset photography.
For those wanting a larger cottage “The Mays” cottage is next door and sleeps 4 persons.
Thankyou to the National Parks and Wildlife for this amazing facility.

We spent a couple of fabulous nights at Flinders Chase recently, which gave us a chance to get to Cape Du Coudic, Admirals Arch, and Remarkable Rocks.

I took these of the lighthouse and keepers cottages at Cape Du Coudic, they were built between 1906-1909. A more detailed blurb is below.

Taken with an Olympus EM1, a 100-400 zoom, and a bit of patience waiting for the light to be just right.

Total excitement for us a few days ago when we ventured out to D’Estrees Bay on Kangaroo Island when we came across a couple of nesting Osprey. Their nest was a magnificent structure and built to withstand the prevailing wind and oceanic forces. Luckily we had binoculars & a reasonable zoom lense to look at these stunning birds from two different angles.

We are still here at American River & thought i would share a friend i have made down at the wharf.
I have named him “ Edwardo De Great Egret”, though he may be a she - he does not flock with his own kind.
Edwardo has been a subject of my camera many times with those dashing side glances and supermodel legs.
As the last photo shows, the sun does shine out of his deriere and he knows he is a star 🌟

What a way to spend Saturday evening, down at Pennington Bay watching the sun set over one shoulder and the moon coming up over the other shoulder. Total bliss and scerenity.
By the time we made it back to American River wharf it was lovely to watch the moon reflections on the calm water.
