White rhino in the early morning with golden grasses and clouds of dust when it breathed. Always soothing being able to watch an animal resting for the day and what happens around them.
Even the rhino fast asleep its amazing how alert their ears are listening out for anything out the ordinary.

Second attempt at photographing bioluminescence, a huge improvement but still far to go till the perfect shot (if there is ever a thing).
We heard about the bioluminescence over social media, and decided to go in search of it that evening, though we had missed the big show and the parts we did find were patchy and far between. It brought back wonderful memories of the times we used to fish on the boat, where the water hit the sides lighting up the cabin, catching fish and seeing the glowing below or even the larger glows of seals and sharks.

After a warm 40.5 degree day, not really wanting to end the day of game driving and having no more air-con. This was our last sighting at Kruger as we heading back into camp and what a beautiful sunset it was!

Stayed in some beautiful places on our most recent trip.
African elephant den we took a back seat and enjoyed the pool with a wonderfully kept garden. Whilst Buttons sat on her cage looking at us as if we were mad. In honest, we were a little, the weather was hot but the pool was on the fresh side however it was the warmest out of the entire trip.

And a personal thank you to the owner as she went out of her way to give us an extra helping hand.

A lot has happened the last few weeks, wrapping up the holiday travels and spending some much needed quality time with friends and family, whilst soaking up the last of the summer sun ( at least for us anyway) as we head back off to the UK and face realities of work and ice cold weather!

Hopefully I will soon start working on some new content, and cannot wait to relive the holiday by writing posts and going thru some photos. It was great having many peoples comments, tips and 👍.

Some more exciting news, as a holiday isn't costly enough we bought a farm! It has nothing on but we are excited for things to come, and hopefully we'll be keeping you in the loop with all the drama to come, for now however it's back to the grinding stone to make the dream a reality.

Because I can't get enough of the wilderness, next stop we stayed near Pilansberg/ Sun City.
We had a wonderful dinner at Sun City when we arrived.
Next day it was time to be up early for the park gates, whilst Chris worked hard and had some quality time with Buttons at Black Swan guesthouse.
I got to see so many little sightings I was very happy about. One included a yellow billed hornbill eating a bird! And finally spotting some cheetah.
Whilst later removing an unwanted resident from our room, the over friendly rain spider 🤔

Time to kick off our shoes and have a little R&R, we spent a full working week in a house in the bush called Chateau de bosveld. We took a private room and were pleasantly surprised to get the whole house with all the add on's!
We were spoilt with a family of bushbabies that lived in the roof that Buttons loved talking to and they were very intrigued with Buttons in return.
We had a few dinners and breakfasts out to add to our laziness.
Was a much needed break, it was very hot and the pool just a little too cold to attempt, but Buttons had a ball with the sprinkler.

After Kruger we were desperate to have a comfy night sleep, and looking forward to a night of a bit more luxury at Hlane Royal national park in Swaziland. However this wasn't to be. I had left my SA passport in Cape Town as I needed it to sort the car rental, though I thought no worries I have my UK passport therefore it will be fine.

They wouldn't let me through as apparently there is no days on my passport 🤔. Who knew...
Back to the drawing board, we phoned our next stay and asked for an extra day - yay successful, and collected Buttons from adoration pet grooming who did such a great job.

Arriving at hippo front lodge, was beautiful. Wooden decks over looking a river with real hippos in it. Unexpected due to it being close to a main town and suspecting it was just a name. We had dinner here for a break, and it was braai night. This place had an amazing atmosphere, relaxed and honest.

Whilst Kruger was a little intense with early mornings, late nights and busy days.

We had a morning drive filled with lions, which you suspect would be the highlight, but it just got topped by something new everyday.

On our morning walk day, we spent sometime wondering around the camp trying to find some interesting things before we headed off for our activity at 4am ( again😱). It was the best activity by far, on our return, as we were approaching the car we realized the back door was open. Few things came to mind, been robbed or monkeys got in. Neither, in our groggy tired state we left it open and it wasn't touched!

Next day at a new camp was very different. Whilst Chris was trying to have a lie in, the monkeys decided to raid the campsite. Poor Chris didn't get his catch-up sleep and had lots of stories to tell when I got back, a few dwarf mongeese wanted to join in the conversation ( more the food 😂) they were absolutely adorable, but realized I wouldn't give them my breakfast and jumped on me - we drew the line and chased them away 😲.

We saw so much in the park and on our last day, a leopard graced us with its presence by casually walking past the car, a pose and climbed up a tree whilst hyenas played in the water and giraffe walking around.

We started off with 40°C weather yesterday. With wonderful sightings of giraffe silhouette in front of a picturesque African sunset, plenty of impala, kudu, and other usual suspects.
On the more exotic side we saw elies, buffalo and a toy cheetah mascot called Dreamy.

We also did a night drive where a massive windy storm came up from nowhere, but surprisingly saw a fair amount, including Genet, springhares, hyena and grysbok.

Today we were very spoilt with young hippos playing water plants, hyenas basically in the car feeding their young, elies doing all sorts, massive stampede of buffalo, troop of entertaining baboons and topping the day off with a sighting of a far away leopard- however I snuck in a sneaky Scorpion search whilst the the fire was been manned ... looking forward to things to come tomorrow... early start with a morning game drive (4am) !
