Erika Matos Photography I’m a brand photographer based on the Central Coast, and I work closely with business owners to create imagery that aligns with their growth and positioning.

Feel aligned. Confident. Authentic 🤍

Your photos don't need to be bad for you to have outgrown them.

Sometimes they still look beautiful.

They still technically "work".

But they belong to a version of the business that no longer exists.

Your services have changed.

Your expertise has deepened.

Your audience is different.

Your positioning is clearer.

Maybe you're using LinkedIn more seriously now.

Maybe you're speaking, launching, teaching or rebuilding your website.

And suddenly the photographs that once represented you perfectly feel slightly disconnected.

I call that the Alignment Gap.

It's the distance between the level your business is operating at and the way it currently presents that level to the world.

The question isn't:

"Are my brand photos old?"

Ask instead:

"Do these images still communicate the business I'm running today?"

Age isn't always the issue.

Relevance is.

I unpacked this more deeply in this month's blog: 7 Signs Your Business Has Outgrown Your Brand Photos.

Save this and audit your current visual identity, look at your website, LinkedIn and Instagram with fresh eyes.

Do they represent where your business has been
or where it is going?

You don't necessarily need new brand photos because your old ones are bad.

Sometimes you've simply grown beyond what they were created to represent.

Your services change.

Your audience changes.

Your confidence in the business changes.

Your website evolves.

You begin saying yes to bigger opportunities.

And eventually the way the business looks needs to catch up.

I've shared seven signs to look for in this carousel.

If you're a Central Coast business owner, I'd love to know:

What part of your brand currently feels the least representative of where your business is today?

11/08/2026

The hardest part isn't standing in front of the camera.

It's letting yourself be seen.

Not the version you think people expect.

Not the version you've spent years trying to become.

The woman you've already become.

Over the years, I've realised that very few women are actually afraid of having their photo taken.

What they're really carrying is the weight of being visible.

*"What if I don't look like the business owner I know I am?"*

*"What if people judge me?"*

*"What if the photos still don't feel like me?"*

That's why I don't start with the camera.

I start with understanding your business, your story and where you're heading.

Because when you feel safe, understood and aligned, something shifts.

You stop performing.

You start showing up.

And that's where the photographs become more than beautiful.

They become a reflection of the business you've worked so hard to build.

If you've been feeling like your business has outgrown its visuals, maybe it's not another content shoot you need.

Maybe it's permission to finally be seen.

The conversations I had at today's networking event all pointed to the same thing.

Not one woman told me she needed "better photos."

What they described was something much deeper.

Their business had grown.

Their expertise had grown.

Their confidence had grown.

But somewhere along the way, their visuals stopped reflecting that growth.

That disconnect is exhausting.

You hesitate before sending someone to your website.

You scroll through your own Instagram thinking, "This doesn't quite feel like me anymore."

You spend more time trying to work around outdated photos than actually sharing your work.

That's why I believe strategic brand photography isn't about creating beautiful images.

It's about closing the gap between who you've become and how your business is perceived.

The hardest part isn't standing in front of the camera.

It's giving yourself permission to be seen.

If your business has outgrown its visuals, maybe it's time they caught up.

A month away from social media gave me something I didn't expect.

Perspective.

Every time I opened Instagram, I saw the same advice:

Post more.

Show up more.

Create more content.

And while consistency absolutely matters, I couldn't help thinking…

What if that's not actually the problem?

I've worked with so many incredible women whose businesses have already grown beyond where their visuals are.

They're experienced.

They're trusted.

They've refined their offers.

But every time they open their website or scroll through their own Instagram, something feels slightly off.

Not because the photos are bad.

Because they no longer reflect who they've become.

I don't believe most business owners need more content.

I think they need more alignment.

Images that support the business they're building today, not the one they started three years ago.

That's the conversation I want to have here.

Not about posting more.

About showing up with intention.

I'm excited to be back. 🤍

When Miriele launched OneDash Accounting in 2026, she skipped the ‘fake it till you make it’ phase. We created strategic brand imagery before she had a single client, so she looked like the trusted advisor she is from Day 1.

People decide in 3 seconds if you’re credible. DIY can wait. Your first impression can’t.

3 hours goes faster than you think.

The businesses that get the best results from their session don’t just “show up”… they come in with intention.

Before your shoot, think about where your images will be used, what offers/services you want to promote, the feeling you want your brand to communicate, the type of clients you want to attract, outfits, props and spaces that align with your brand.

Because strategic brand photography isn’t about taking random photos. It’s about creating a library of content your business can actually use.

This is your reminder that preparation is what transforms a photoshoot into a powerful business tool.

Business owners, what’s the thing you stress about most before a shoot day? 👇
