Hey lovelies! I’ve had a lot of new enquiries lately and thought I’d better make an official post to let you know I am on maternity leave! We welcomed our sweet baby girl Alaska last month and are loving life as a family of five. At this stage I don’t intend to return to photography in 2025 so won’t be able to take on all of your lovely bookings ❤️

The landscapes of New Zealand are just something else! I’ve mentioned this before but I always have a vision in my head for every session. And this beautiful session with Zara, with this misty mountain surrounded lake and her stunning horse absolutely blew me away!

Have you been to New Zealand? I think I could go a hundred times and never tire of its beauty.

It seems like about time for an update from me!

Somehow we’re halfway through the year, I’m not really sure how that happened. I’ve been very absent on here and for good reason. I’ve been working on a few personal projects, the most significant of which is a new baby sibling for this pair arriving in October!

I’ve been craving being back in this space, photography brings me so much joy and forms so much of my identity both inside and seperate from motherhood. And while I can’t take on much in the way of sessions right now, I do plan on being here much more from an educational point of view. I’ve got a couple of new things planned, and I actually will have a couple of family sessions in Emerald available for August before I get too big. I am 22 weeks already!

Thank you to all of you who messaged to check in over the past few months, it means so much.

Hey, it’s me.

I’m torn between wanting to show you all of the work I have created in the last little while because I’m so proud of it, but knowing that every time I show up on social media I have to turn away inevitable enquiries that come in. I love photography, and I love being a part of your family’s journey - it is so incredibly special. But this year is all about my family and I am not currently taking on any bookings unfortunately. From my family to yours, I hope you had a beautiful festive season and end to 2023.

As we start a new year there’s always so much reflection and perspective, and I wanted to take a moment to let you know what’s going on in my world.

I’m sure so many of you can relate to how much is going on behind the scenes. This year I’ve been met with quite the shock as my biggest boy starts kindy, something I’m so very far from being prepared for. My Dad is also battling terminal cancer and so I want to spend as much time as possible with family while I have the time with them all. We would also like to have another baby and complete our little family.

With all of that being said, I won’t be taking on any new bookings after my current bookings into March, unless I’ve previously chatted to you about pencilling it in.

I just don’t have the capacity to take on what I did in 2023 this year and do each of my beautiful sessions justice.

I’m still working away on sessions from 2023 - at the end of the year I was really knocked by tonsillitis and then rhinovirus which is still hanging around 4 weeks later. So things have been way slower than I thought they’d be, and I apologise for this.

I’ll still be here, with things ticking away behind the scenes for Annie Metcalf Photography in 2024 - my physical bookings will just slow right down for the time being and I hope you understand this is what my family needs for this period of time.

A moment for sweet baby Magnus.

If you’re an Emerald expecting mother and you’ve got your heart set on newborn photos next year, please get in touch as soon as you can.

I reserve dates in my calendar for newborns and maternity as they are time sensitive, and then send out the rest of my dates to families on my mailing list. Jan - March dates will be sent out in about a week, so if you want to book a newborn session in for then, contact me asap before the dates are gone ❤️

There are two things I love to document in my sessions; having fun and loving up on family.

And this session with the beautiful Loch family was a perfect mix of that. Ten highlight photos can never do a gallery justice, but I had such a great afternoon with these guys.

The kids ages of 5 & 7 are some of my favourite to capture because sessions feel like one big game. I’m so blessed to spend my weekends this way ❤️

Model calls can be phenomenal for the growth of your business if used strategically.

Each time I want to test out something new, achieve a different ‘look’, or reach a new type of clientele, I have used model calls.

A really key business principle is consistency, and so the time to test out creative ideas is not with a paying client.

Model calls can work wonders for your photography business if done right!
