Sometimes the princess sticks up her middle finger and screams “I don’t want to be saved”.
Sometimes the dragon refuses to breathe fire and picks up his guitar to strum and sing sweet Elvis songs.
Sometimes the evil witch makes delicious pancakes for charity stalls and tops them with fresh cream and her own homegrown strawberries.
Sometimes the monster doesn’t want to be under the bed and instead cuddles up to the sleeping boy.
Sometimes the villain longs to take walks on the beach at sunset, holding hands with somebody who loves him and the alien wants to stay in their pyjamas, watching YouTube in bed on their own planet.
Sometimes the hero trips over his own boot laces and cries out “I want my Mum”.
Sometimes we should not define people - they may have been penned a “notorious villain”, but their hearts are incredibly tender.
Sometimes we should remember that just because we have been told someone is a certain way, does not make it true.
