I have to say I have a new found respect and awe for nature photographers... up at 3am, pummelled by torrential weather, in the pitch dark only to come home with a hand full of pretty crap pics!!! But.... I really want to share the whole crabby migration story so here's.... 'the birth'... 😂😂😂

When we arrived on Christmas Island it was in the middle of one of the biggest dry spells the island has seen in many years, those deep tropical greens and lush plants were nothing but a blanket of crunchy, dry leaves on the ground. It looked more like the Aussie outback than a tropical island. So now the rain is finally falling and the jungle is coming back- glorious, lush and green.... a girl cant help but get a little snap happy.

I have been spending alot of time loving on the amazing red crabs since I've been here, so I thought I should probably put up a quick post about the un-sung hero of Christmas Island, the prehistoric, utterly huge and so so beautiful Coconut Crab, also known as the Robber Crab. Seeing how easily they chomp through a rock hard Coconut I call them coconut crabs... but Riley well he is quite sure this one identifies as a Robber Crab. Either way, they are incredible!

A maternity shoot with a difference. : ) I might of officially lost the plot...I just edited an entire maternity gallery..... of... crabs. But in my defence, these beautiful ladies go through hell and back to get down to the beach, risking literal death 100 times over to get their precious babies to the water. Seeing them finally on the beach is something to celebrate thats for sure. Nature can be so brutal and so beautiful all at once...
