I found a little road that led down to the river and the bird life was insane! I thought of my amazing bird photographer friend aka Chaddy and wished I had one of his amazing zoom lenses! I’d been there before but not when the river was this low. It gave me some opportunities for some low compositions and i was able to include some rocks which gave some texture to the capture. On my way home I jumped out quickly and got a beautiful reverse sunset on one side of the road and a golden glow sunset directly opposite it. No shortage of beauty in Geurie 💚

Two years ago we made the move to Geurie, and every day I’m reminded why.

We fell in love with the peace and quiet, the endless open farming country, and the incredible beauty that surrounds this little village. These photos were taken along a nearby dirt road—just minutes from home. There’s something magical about watching the light roll across the paddocks, the changing skies, and the wide-open spaces that seem to stretch forever.

These landscapes aren’t just beautiful; they’re part of who we are. They feed our communities, support farming families, provide habitat for wildlife, and offer a sense of space and freedom that’s becoming harder to find.

Many people choose to live by the ocean because they love coastal views. We chose the country for these views.

That’s why it’s heartbreaking to think that some of this productive farming land could be replaced by vast industrial solar developments.

If we value these landscapes, now is the time to speak up, get involved, and support thoughtful planning that preserves the places we love for future generations.
