I know all my fellow school Mums will get this when I say it, but I feel like I’ve only just come up for air now that school’s been back for a whole week 🤣

I was sitting doing a little bit of admin this morning and I had a look at my calendar, and it hit me… I literally only have 10 sunset sessions left for 2026, with my next availability not until late September

This session is my longtime hairdresser and her family

So many times I would sit in the chair and she would say, “we really need to book family photos, we haven’t had any done in years. My youngest was still a baby when we had our last photos taken”

I’m so glad that the last time I was in, we were finally able to pick a date and make it happen for them

Family sessions are one of those things we can so easily put off, and before we realise it, years have gone by, things have changed, and our children have grown up way too much

This is literally why I book my own family photos at the start of every year to make sure that we get them done regularly ❤️

T O D D L E R - noun

(a definition by me, based on real life photo shoots… not the dictionary)

1. A small human, typically aged between one and three, who has recently discovered independence and now runs the household accordingly.

2. A strong-willed, snack-fuelled decision maker with very clear opinions, big feelings, and an impressive ability to take charge of any situation (can you spot the apple 🍎 that made its way into this session?)

3. The unofficial boss of any photo session, confidently setting the pace, the mood, and occasionally the entire agenda.

Sessions are never about making your toddler fit into a plan. They’re about gently shaping the experience around them, so their personality, energy, and little quirks can lead the way

As a Mum of two very VERY head strong and busy boys I get it. My kids would NEVER sit still so I don’t expect others to either

If a toddler doesn’t like the idea or game I have jn my head… We change it 💁🏻‍♀️

One of my biggest focuses with toddlers is connecting with them and I make that the priory from the start of the session. I’m watching how they interact, what they like to play with and how they respond to my personality to see where we should take the session

So please don’t ever be worried your toddler won’t do the things, won’t listen or sit still. We never expect them to do that anyway

Capturing a slow Sunday at home with the family 🫶🏠

A session I didn’t realise would fill my creative cup and just feel so right

My favourite kind of sessions have always been the ones with toddlers and little people. There’s nothing more rewarding than taking the time to connect, build trust, and then watching their little personalities come to life in front of the camera

Being able to capture that in a place that’s truly special to them made it even more meaningful

Running up and down the hallway, jumping in big brother’s cot, sitting on the floor together, exploring the backyard… it felt more like play than a photo shoot

One of the little boys told his Mum the next day that his favourite part was me coming over to play hide and seek. It was like he didn’t even realise we’d had a photo shoot, he just wanted to know when I was coming back to play again 🥹

I don’t often get the chance to do in home sessions these days due to school drop off and pick up, but this has definitely sparked something in me.

My brain is already thinking and piecing together ideas, but right now I’m leaning towards offering a handful of Sunday morning at home with the family sessions later this year

This would be something tailored specifically for family sessions, not newborn, to really capture your family in their element

If you’re reading this and thinking this feels like you, send me a message. I’d love to chat while I work on the details

If you’re thinking about newborn photos, the best time to book is usually earlier than you think

I book a limited number of due dates each month so everything feels calm and well planned

Once you’re in, I guide you through the whole process so you don’t have to overthink anything

The beautiful chaos of expecting number 3 🤎

My favourite kind of sessions are always the high energy, chaotic ones where you don’t follow a plan but instead follow the energy

Because if I’m being honest my brain doesn’t like a plan…. it thrives on chaos

I know I’m always talking about how much I love toddlers and siblings at my sessions… but honestly, the chaos and the challenge of the little people is what makes my day

There’s just something about their energy. The way they move, the way they test me, the way they light up when it feels like play instead of posing

And do you know who inspires me the most? My two boys 🥹

Jake is always refilling the sticker stack in the studio so it’s ready for the next little visitor

Jordy is my resident idea man. He’s forever making up games, like hiding hot wheels in the baby blanket. And now it’s something I do at almost every session

I love when siblings come in and feel like this space is for them too. I want them to feel Confident, Happy, Free to be exactly who they are
