A journey of 4000km sometimes starts with a miss step!
I have been stuck in Katherine since Friday night when Nessy the Navara decided to have a little rest about 180km from Darwin!

My tip If you are going to break down
A: do it next to an abandoned roadhouse!
B: listen to your mum and get RACV EXTRA CARE!!! They paid for the towing and the accommodation!

So thanks to RACV and some local Katherine business I have been looked after and Nessy is up and going again!
Also thanks to those who stopped to help on the highway and the friends on the chat groups who stopped me going mental!!
Onto the next leg!!!

On world photo day I shot my last sunset in Darwin.

I heading home, there is a story as to why to be told at another time. Powers beyond my reckoning do not share my view of what matters to me.

I will walk away with this quote that a true and great friend shared with me “credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms” Teddy Roosevelt

Proud of the result, conflicted about an image that records violence and hate. These moments still need to be witnessed and documented.

Hawthorn RSL means a lot to me and my family, please help if you can.

Someone there recently hugged me and told me, “We are here to support you, whatever you need, mate.”

I looked across the room at my son and realised that was exactly what they were already doing. They had given him somewhere to belong, people who know him, and a community to be part of.

Hawthorn RSL is raising money to restore its home so it can continue supporting veterans and their families in very real ways.

If you can, please help them keep doing it.

I had no idea this was the Buck Moon!

The morning before I'd tried photographing the moon over Darwin Harbour, but I didn't have my tripod.

I had rested the camera pillow on the balcony railing and the results weren't what I wanted.

I grabbed my tripod home from work and tried again next day.

As I had breaky I set up the tripod and got my settings sorted and went inside to make a coffee. Every few minutes I'd wander back out to check on the light. Then I saw the ship. I had just enough time to reframe before it passed beneath the moon.

A few seconds later it was gone. It wasn't until the following day that I realised I'd photographed the Buck Moon. At the time I just thought the smoke over Darwin had created some beautiful light.

It can be hard to back yourself and send that email, pitching your idea for a story. However when you get the approval and you cover it, the results speak for themselves.

Beach, sunset, jet fuel, Darwin does things a bit differently!

Shooting for AAP the Exercise Pitch Black air display on Mindil Beach was pretty different, the crowd clapped the jets, not the sunset!

There was also “Pitch Splat 🫟” not a plane, but more on that later.
