Pacific National's NR103 and NR57 power No.1829 freight through Bathurst on Saturday 19 August 2023. 

This service runs from Chullora in Sydney to the Parkes Logistics Terminal, where it's combined with other Sydney-Perth services for the transcontinental run.

Almost forgotten amongst all the steam locomotive action; NSW Rail Museum's streamliner 4201 trains 3801s train during the Great Train Race during the 2023 Hunter Valley Steamfest.

The spectacle of the 2023 ARTC Great Train Race is in full show as 3801, 5917 (trailing in the background), 6029 and R766 approach the finish line on Sunday 30 April 2023.
3801 took the title, its first appearance at the Hunter Valley Steamfest since 2007.
An amazing sight to see; four steam locomotives running parallel; well done to all involved!

Veteran English Electric locomotive D27 has just hauled a rake of loaded coil steel wagons into Cringilla Yard from the BlueScope steelworks at Port Kembla in NSW. 23 February 2023.

The wagons will then be marshalled onto an outgoing QUBE 'WM7 or -WB7 steel train to Melbourne, Brisbane and beyond.

This locomotive is owned by BlueScope and operated by Watco.

Pacific National's 8106 shunts wagons from the former Toll Sidings at Carrington to Morandoo Yard, presumably to be attached to outbound PN steel services, taken Monday 27 March 2023.

The loco's engine sound was drowned out by the countless corella's feasting on split grain all over Carrington Yard.

Aurizon locomotive 3221 sits shut-down in Carrington Yard on Thursday 23 March 2023.

A few minutes later, two drivers came along and began the process to start the locomotive up, and the GE 7FDL-12 engine roared to life.
The muffle fitted on top of the loco is a requirement to operate in NSW.

Recently restored NSWGR locomotive 3001 is looking smart and shiny as it operates shuttles between Thirlmere and Buxton as part of the 2023 Thirlmere Festival of Steam.

Locomotive 3526 is operating at the other end of the train, and was looking equally sharp in its green livery as the train passed Couridjah station.

A somewhat rare locomotive by global standards; NSWGR Alco locomotive 4306 is on display during Streamliners 2022 at the Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre on Sunday 2 October 2022.

Powered by an Alco 244 engine, six 43 Class locomotives were ordered by the New South Wales Government Railways and delivered in 1956-1957.

The locomotives were built be A Goninan & Co in Newcastle, Australia, and were unique in combining an Alco power train into a GE body; the body was that of the GE UM20 locomotives, of which only two existed for Union Pacific and Erie Railroads.

The locomotives were ordered together with the six Clyde/EMD 42 class streamliners; the common story is that both classes of six locos were ordered to evaluate the offerings of Clyde and Alco, which then led to further locomotive orders.

Today, 4306 is the only class member preserved; being in the care of the NSW Rail Museum at Thirlmere, NSW. It is n running order and can be seen often on the mainline.

With no more Ghan services for 2022, the four locomotives painted in the vibrant red livery get distributed to any Pacific National service where they're needed.

Recently weathered NR class locomotives NR55 and NR56 done professionally by .

This is a 'light' weathering, as they're based on the late 1990s where National Rail cleaned their locos fairly regularly.
