I love a hospitality business that services a genuine community. It's more than just coffee and food. It's a place for connection that ties the neighbourhood together. That's what hospitality is about.

That's what I love to photograph.

Hospitality photography isn’t really about food.

There’s a common misconception about hospitality photography.

People think it’s mostly about the product. The dish. The plating. The styling.

And sometimes, it is.

But above all else, it’s about moments.

How do I capture someone’s face lighting up when they see a friend they haven’t seen in years?

How do I capture a few mates sharing a long lunch and a few beers, with nowhere else they need to be?

How do I capture that little moment of anticipation when a plate hits the table?

Because as much as we all love good food, hospitality is an experience business.

The food and coffee are part of the foundation.

The great venues make you feel something.

And that feeling is what makes you want to come back.

That’s what I photograph.

Your venue already has content happening every day.

You don’t need elaborate concepts or perfectly scripted videos.

Hospitality naturally creates moments...
Food being shared.
Coffee being made.
People connecting.
Staff doing what they do best.
Customers actually enjoying the thing you’ve built.

That’s your content.

The job isn’t always to create something from nothing.

Sometimes it’s simply being there, paying attention, and knowing which moments are worth capturing.

Hospitality is a feeling long before it’s a transaction.

Food photos aren’t what brings people to your page.

They’re important. They’re just probably not doing the job you think they are.
I can already hear someone saying, “Maybe your photos just aren’t good enough.”
And hey — maybe you’re right.
But after 15 years in hospitality and now creating content professionally, here’s what I’ve noticed:

They look great. They showcase the product. They help people understand what you offer.
But on their own, they rarely create much emotional buy-in.

Your videos, your team, your customers, your stories, your personality — that’s what earns attention.
That’s the content that gives people a reason to stop scrolling, engage, and get curious about your venue.

Then the food photography does its job.

They land on your page, scroll through your content, see the burger, pasta, pastry or coffee and think:
“F**k. That looks good. We need to go there.”
So no — food photography isn’t pointless.
Far from it.

It’s just usually not the thing that gets them through the door to your profile in the first place.

Think of it as part of the conversion, not necessarily the discovery.

Hospitality photography should feel like an invitation.

The food, the table, the room — enough to make someone think, yeah, I want to be there.
