Hi guys.
Just some random photos that I have taken over the last two weeks.
Yes I take hundreds of photos, many that are never shared so here are a few, may as well share them as someone may like to see them.
Our beautiful high country and some of its inhabitants.
For well over 10 years we have been hiking the high country photographing the wildlife.
Love it 😍

Hi all
Yesterday I went off hiking again. I have a few weeks off work so hiking it will be 🙂
A beautiful day this time of year. Very windy but that’s ok , cools you down a bit 👌🏻

I was about 8kms into my walk when I was rounding a bush. A female dingo was rounding the same bush but towards me ( true ) we both stopped in our tracks when we saw one another.
She sat down and I backed up to a respectable distance.
We have met this gorgeous female alpine dingo a few times before 🙂
She showed me her sore foot ( at least I will say that, sounds cute ☺️ )
She did have a sore foot no doubt from chasing kangaroos across the plains as fast as he can run.
Time for some rest as she lay down briefly , rolled around a little then after about 15 minutes decided that she would go and perch herself up in a rock to watch a mob of roos that weren’t too far away.
She is gorgeous 😍

A piebald dingo is a genetically pure dingo variant featuring a white coat with prominent spots or patches of ginger or black.
For decades, a widespread myth in Australia suggested that only "pure" dingoes were solid ginger with white socks and a white tail tip. Any animal displaying patchy, black and tan, or brindle coats was automatically assumed to be a domestic dog hybrid and subsequently culled. However, breakthrough genetic research led by University of New South Wales (UNSW) scientists has shattered this myth, proving that piebald coloration is a naturally occurring variation within 100% pure dingo populations.
Piebald and brindle variations are heavily prominent among Alpine dingoes roaming the southern alpine woodlands and plains of southeastern Australia. Biologists believe these patches provide essential evolutionary camouflage to help them blend into snowy, rocky, or heavily forested alpine landscapes.
So there !! 😀🐕❤️🇦🇺

Hi all
Angela Booth and I often hike together and we wanted to show that you don't have to be on top of the dingo to get a good close up pic of it.
This is a good example of how close is close enough to the dingoes unless they approach you and in this instance the dingo was actually further away and decided to get a little closer to Angela where he lay himself down.
First pic is obviously the pic I took of Angela and the dingo and the next three pics are the pics that Angela took of the dingo at the distance pictured.
Angela has a 800ml lens and you can see just how close and clear the images can be at that distance.
Pretty cool hey 🙂

Hi all
⚠️ WARNING DEAD JOEY in pics ⚠️

The other day I went for a walk ( like I do )
Up in the high country of Australia , it’s a beautiful place to go for a walk 😍
It was -5 when I headed off and made it down into the valley.
After about 3kms I heard a howl so I went up over the rise where I saw two Dingoes with a recently caught Joey that they were dining on. Poor little Joey but that’s the way of the wild…
I sat some distance away and took a few pics / watched them for about 20 minutes before one up and took off with the Joey.
The other just went and sat on a rock waiting for the sun to warm him up.
It turned out that there were three dingoes on that rock ,I just couldn’t see them until I walked to the other side of the rock.
Pretty cool morning watching these Dingoes do their thing.
They were singing and I just love their song 🥰

Hi all
The previous post on this page ( the video of the dingo rolling ) did spark some negative comments.
“ your too close to the dingo “ etc
Only a few crappy comments from people that weren’t there so how would the know what happened 🤷🏼‍♂️
I’ll tell you in these pics what and how it happened 🙂
Keep in mind I have been hiking the high country and photographing our Alpine dingoes for well over a decade now. An awful lot longer than most other “ dingo photographers “ some of which also don’t like my pics ,oh well 🤦🏻‍♂️

We were hiking when way in the distance we saw 5 dingoes.
You can see how far away we were from them in the pics and that’s where we planned to stay ,observing them from that distance.
Three of the dingoes took off when they saw us ,casually running past us just to get that little bit closer, better look at us ( like the do )
The two others stayed where they were because there was a roo carcass they were feeding on.
We sat. One of the black and white dingoes , the female headed over towards us. She came to within 15 metres of me at the closest being the time I took that video ( in the previous post ) I may as well take a video of her.
She came over towards us smelling the air that’s all, we didn’t go over to her and invade her space , she came over to us.
I’ve been spendng time with dingoes for years and years now, never ever had any issues, bad experiences 👍🏻
That’s social media for you I guess. Everyone ( even those that have no clue ) have an opinion- blocked 👋🏻

It was amazing to watch this female doing her thing.

Dingoes roll in dead animals or foul smelling s**t etc due to an instinctual habit known as scent rolling, which serves critical evolutionary purposes for wild canines. When a dingo encounters a carcass, it will rub its neck, shoulders, and back into the remains ( there was a carcass here )
In the wild, masking their natural predator odor is highly advantageous. By coating themselves in the scent of a dead animal or a prey species, dingoes can disguise their presence from live prey.
When a dingo rolls in a carcass and returns to its family group , the other members sniff its fur to investigate the odor. This acts as a signal saying, "I found food," allowing the rest of the group to track the scent back to the scavenging site.
Carcasses serve as a primary social point of interest for dingo groups. By rubbing against a dead animal, dingoes can leave their own scent behind via oil glands, claiming the carcass and signaling ownership to rival scavengers or neighboring family groups…

These two dingoes 🥰
Those eyes.
The intense stares that the dingoes give you is calculation of your threat level, a search for food cues, or an assertion of domination.
Did you know that unlike domestic dogs these apex predators maintain " unblinking " because they lack the evolutionary modifications that make pet dogs / domestic dogs break a gaze to avoid conflict.

Make sense ?
The best things in life are free, it's true.
Spending time with these wild ones is just a blessing. Out there with nature, nothing beats it 😊

Hi all
This morning I hiked 15.36 km's in search of dingoes.
I was out there hiking up and down hills for almost 6 hours.
In the 6 hours I would have only spent roughly 15 minutes with these dingoes, the rest of the time I didn't see another dingo.
An amazing 15 minutes spent with these two dingoes which makes the hike no matter how long it was just awesome 🥰
There were five dingoes. All Skewbald and all relaxing in the morning sun when I came around the corner. Three up and took off quick smart. These two didn't take off , they looked at me as if to say " This is our house and we are not going anywhere" ( which is true )
The other three were up on the treeline in the distance and started calling to their family members.
I didn't know whether to film it with my phone or take pics so I took pics.
It was amazing to watch.
Another amazing dingo encounter 🐕❤️🇦🇺
