I will never hear the phrase “break a leg” the same way…
First of all thank you to everyone who sent me a message over the past two weeks. ❤️
My mom came to visit me from New York, a trip we’ve both been looking forward to for months. I was so excited to show her all my favorite places, for her to meet my partner of over 2 years, for her to see the life I’ve made for myself in Sydney.
Cut to her 3rd day of a planned 3 weeks here. It was Monday and I wanted to show her my morning routine: a stroll to the local park to watch all the dogs run around in the morning light, while sipping on a good coffee. On this walk, my mom (who exercises more than I do, skiis, hikes etc and has never broken a bone) tripped over a cracked sidewalk and broke her kneecap in two. The ambulance took over an hour (!!) to come, and watching her struggling, laying on the sidewalk while trying to keep her calm and conscious was pure agony.
After emergency surgery she required around the clock care (including me injecting her every morning with blood thinners 💉) She is doing much better now, recovering more each day.
As I got back to work, I couldn’t stop thinking about the emergency room nurses, who spend their days in fluorescent lighting dealing with pain and encountering people during their worst moments. So much respect and admiration for them.
It gave me an even greater appreciation for what I’m SO. So. So. lucky to do, encountering people in the height of joy, love and excited anticipation in their lives. It truly makes me a happier person, and I’m so thankful to every single couple that trusts me to be with them for such a huge moment.
Jordan and Adrian got married at Wylies bathhouse, a stunning and peaceful place where my partner and I actually became a couple 💙🌊
They met at a music festival, and Adrian was wearing a full tiger onesie. Jordan was intrigued… they became friends and ended up at at a New Years Eve party together. When the clock struck 12 they both turned around and had their first kiss. 12 years, one dog, and a lott of life later they had another kiss that sealed their marriage. 🎊
