Flashback to Gowar. Gowar is a rural locality 7 km south-east of Maldon. It was known as Muckleford North until 1880, but one hundred years later Muckleford North has probably become the name more often used. It is thought that Gowar derived from an Aboriginal word meaning big hill.

There were minor gold rushes at Muckleford but nothing permanent eventuated. The Muckleford Creek, however, was a source of permanent water for agriculture, the nearest such source for Maldon. A school for Gowar was opened in the early 1870s and closed in 1908. The stone ruin remains.

The pink Cliffs in Heathcote. The Pink Cliffs Geological Reserve is a remarkable area to visit on the edge of Heathcote.

Once a hydraulic sluicing site, mining activity in the late 19th century washed away the top layer of earth and revealed the dramatic, colourful cliffs on display today.

Went to visit the Rone exhibition above Flinders Street Station.

It’s a wonderful space that has be left as is for years. We could have spent hours there looking at his work. He is so talented and this collection is so eclectic. This was in the ballroom It was certainly worth seeing.

The Redwood Forest.

This place is amazing. It’s certainly something to see. This large natural landscape is the central point of the Otways most beautiful waterfalls and the redwoods of Beech Forest. Planted in 1939, the Californian redwoods of Beech Forest (known as Sequoia trees) are a sight to behold and not to be missed when visiting the region.
