A friend, , suggested a tighter crop on this image. I was going for the insignificance of a frail human in a vast ocean, but editing my own photos has always been a challenge for me. Being too close to the image spawns conflicting emotions whereas editing other people’s photos is easy. Unfortunate that because good editing is a professional photographer’s must have skill.
Anyway, I think Simon may be correct. What is your opinion - tighter crop or wider?
Wedding Cake Island, Coogee, Saturday March 28, 2026. Earmarked as a”1 in a 100 year swell”, Saturday morning was certainly huge but it wasn’t the biggest I’ve seen out the ‘Cake. But put yourself in this surfer’s wet feet and debate about the swell’s place in history would be moot.
