For Mother’s Day gift 💞
I photographed a portrait of my mother, my daughter, and myself.
It’s something we do every few years. Last time we had a photo of us taken, my daughter was 12. She’s nearly 16 now. I can feel the years moving.
One day soon, she will have her own life. But right now, she is here. My mother is here. And I am here, right in the middle of these two extraordinary women. One who shaped me, and one who I am shaping in return.
When my daughter asked, “Mum, why are we doing it again?” I told her: because life is beautiful, and we are here to enjoy, remember, and celebrate it.
When my mum was my age, she hated being photographed. There are no images of mum from those years to show my daughter. Now, in her 60s, she’s the one who is eager, because she understands, in a way only time can teach you, just how precious these moments really are.
This portrait will be printed and gifted to her for Mother’s Day. Something tangible and lasting.
