People keep messaging me when a new studio opens.

Always with love. Always with good intentions.

“Have you seen the new studio?”
“Are you worried?”

And every time, it makes me think about how easy it is in business to start looking sideways.

To watch what someone else is doing.
What they’re charging.
What they’re offering.
How quickly they’re growing.

But I don’t want to build Solfina like that.

I don’t want every new business to feel like a threat, because there will always be someone new.

What I can control is the experience I create, the way people feel when they walk into the studio, how supported they feel before their booking, and how I keep making the space better.

That’s where I want my energy to go.

I think real confidence in business isn’t believing you’re better than everyone else.

It’s being so clear on what you’re building that someone else building something beautiful doesn’t make yours feel any smaller 🤍

There are quite a few new faces here lately, so it felt like time to properly say hi 🤍

I’m Daisy, photographer, studio owner, your biggest hype girl, passenger princess and the woman behind Solfina.

I created this space because it was the kind of studio I needed as a photographer: beautiful, flexible, welcoming and easy to make your own. Somewhere you could walk in with an idea and feel supported bringing it to life.

A space where you can take up space, create freely and feel genuinely seen.

Because Solfina’s why has always been bigger than simply providing a beautiful space. It’s about supporting you and delivering a beautiful experience from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave feeling cared for, confident and excited about what you created.

Busy season is creeping closer, spring is almost here, and naturally my response was:

Could I squeeze in one more creative concept first?

Obviously, yes.

I’m putting together a small creative team for
-Petal Pink-
a monochromatic editorial exploring colour, form and softness at Solfina Studio.

Think pale pink, glossy skin, delicate textures, sculptural styling and soft spring energy.

I’m seeking:

– female model (18+)
– makeup artist
– hair / wig stylist

The model styling will include tasteful implied nudity, with careful posing and draping throughout.

Each collaborator will receive a curated gallery of professionally edited images for portfolio and social use, with full credits provided.

Props and materials will be provided.

The shoot will take place at Solfina Studio in Carrington, Newcastle, with the date confirmed around the selected team’s availability.

I share other photographers’ work because Solfina was never meant to be a space that centres only me.

I’m not the right photographer for everyone, and I genuinely believe that’s a good thing. Sometimes the work I share may help you discover the photographer whose style, energy or approach feels completely right for you.

Solfina is a space to create, connect, experiment and be celebrated. And I’ll always be proud to share the beautiful work made here.

I don't think one is better than the other.

Outdoor sessions bring movement, changing seasons and beautiful, organic storytelling. Studio sessions bring consistency, comfort and gorgeous light, no matter what's happening outside.

They each have their place.

And honestly? For your business, a blend of both is the dream.

Having the flexibility to create in different environments means you can offer your clients more variety, more intention and galleries that feel beautifully well-rounded.

Solfina was never created to replace outdoor photography. It exists to give photographers another option when consistency, simplicity or a thoughtfully designed space is exactly what's needed.

Because more creative options are always a good thing.

One of the biggest misconceptions about shooting in a studio is that it's all about the aesthetic.

For me, it's also about efficiency.

The light is predictable.
The backgrounds are clean.
The colours are consistent.

That means I'm spending less time fixing images and more time refining them.

The goal isn't to avoid editing entirely (I still edit every gallery and image by hand). It's to start with the strongest file possible.

Because every hour I save behind a screen is another hour I can spend serving clients, creating, or simply getting home a little earlier.
