The original wedding date for Emma & Dan was back in October last year, and Dan was telling me how they took note that the day had perfect weather, fast forward to February, and they happened to get married on a weekend of terrantial rain and floods.
The day was beautiful none the less, and the rain, and wet weather actually made some beautiful photographs, and it didn’t stop them from having the most beautiful day!
The ceremony, was originally planned in an outdoor garden at the Mercure Resort - Hunter Valley, due to the severe whether conditions, the ceremony was moved into an indoor location which I found to be just incredible looking. The old school books and book shelves, the old school brick work and wooden roof, and the beautiful fireplace they ended up getting married in front of. I must say, while I do love a nature ceremony, rooms like this I just absolutely adore. So much unique character and style, making some beautiful photographs even if it wasn’t what they originally planned.
Thankfully, after the ceremony there was no rain - just small bouts of light rain/sprinkles. So we headed around the beautiful garden, and captured some outdoor shots while we could. And wet weather is probably my favourite weather for amazing photography, just adds a little bit “wow” to each photo. I’m sure many photographers agree that rainy/cloudy weather is the best weather to shoot in!
The reception - also located at the Mercure resort - Hunter Valley was beautiful. Beautiful, yummy food, so spacious with a nice big dance floor. Lots of fun, happy faces, laughter and love.
There’s an old myth about how it’s good luck to get married on a rainy day. You know how they say “tying the knot” - well think about a dry knot vs a wet knot, which one is harder to undo? The wet knot ofcourse!
I wish Dan & Emma all the best in a long and happy Marriage and look forward to catching up again for your annual family photos with your beautiful son, Colby.
