I managed to get a shot of a lifetime yesterday at Brisbane Riverfire. The EA-18G Growler is an epic aircraft, it was amazing being able to see it fly up the Brisbane River and around the buildings. The Royal Australian Air Force put on a magnificent show for sure!

I got the honour of following an Albert’s Lyrebird and filming it on the weekend. I will apologise for the shakiness of the video, I had literally sprinted uphill back up the hiking trail to get this shot.

This one was very vocal and put on a show. These birds are very elusive and usually pretty timid when it comes to people. You can hear a Green Catbird singing out in the video as well.

The Albert’s Lyrebird is endemic to a small area on the state border between New South Wales and Queensland. With the largest single population is found on the Lamington Plateau.

I am absolutely honoured to have received a commended award for the 2024 Mono Awards in the animal category.

This is the winning photograph, it was taken on my Sony a6000 using my 55-210mm lens. I shot this photo in black and white. Very light editing was done in photoshop to make the highlights and shadows have more contrast.

Title: Waiting for Nightfall
Description: The Australian Bush Thick-knee is patiently waiting for nightfall. These beautiful birds become active at night, often calling their eerie wailing cry. During the day, you will often see them wandering around in an attempt to find a nice place to sleep. This one hadn't managed to just yet.
