A fun little story:
When doing dog portraits, I try to get the dog sitting approximately in the right spot and compose the shot, but getting the them to look at the camera while maintaining position is often a challenge! The first thought is to call their name or use a squeaky toy, but this is a bad idea because now the dog will come to you... and your composition is gone. So I have spent a lot of time learning to make noises that don't inspire movement, but garner just enough interest for them to look my way.
My solution: Blow raspberries (you'd be surprised how well it works).... except...The most recent pup I shot (Daz)... was utterly deaf. So I found myself, falling onto old habits, and blowing raspberries like loon at a deaf dog... despite having been told days before I showed up, that Daz was deaf.
Old Habits aside, he responded very quickly when mum pulled the treats out. :)
