We had quite a large blackberry harvest from our vine this year, so I have been coming up with interesting recipes to use them up. This was an ambitious recipe, blackberry gelee, blackberry mousse, vanilla cake and blackberry glaze. I made 10 in total but this was the only one that came out photo worthy. Fortunately I have a lot more blackberry to perfect it with.

I spent this week taking photos for the lovely people at Capital Plein Air, an outdoor painting and art event.

Not being skilled in any form of drawing or painting I found it fascinating to see all the various styles of painting and more drawing mediums than I knew existed. The artists were amazingly talented and friendly also. There were people there from all different skill levels and they were all helping each other to experiment with new styles and mediums.

Thanks for having me guys, it was a very inspiring week.

I spent some time at the annual Sheep Dog Trials this week. I had great fun patting the competitors and furry spectators alike.

I found it quite challenging to get my shutter speed up fast enough for the running speed of the working dogs, they were amazingly quick.

I've been playing with a black and white theme this week for Eva and her mum, and I'm really pleased with how it has turned out.

This monument required no introduction.

It is one thing however, to know about it and understand how large it is, but standing beneath it, looking up at it is something else entirely.

You can see the Eiffel Tower from many places around Paris and even walking toward it through the gardens, you can see that it is large but it wasn't until I got to the base of it and looked up that I really felt it looming above me.

If you're in Paris its a must see and I highly recommend a trip to the top.

Notre Dame might be the most famous church in Paris but if you happen to be in the neighbourhood I recommend making a quick trip around the corner to the much smaller and less well known Sainte Chapelle with its amazing stained glass.

What's a trip to France without a quick stop over in Paris?

Actually this is my third trip to France and only my first time seeing Paris, but lets not let the truth get in the way of a good story.

This time I spent three days in Paris taking in all of the most famous monuments, starting of course with Notre Dame which is still being renovated after the fire but is now open to the public again

La Plagne finished off Christmas Day for us with a spectacular sunset.

It was interesting for me, being from Australia, to see that sunset and sunrise in La Plagne were in almost exactly the same place. Sunrise in Australia is on one side of the sky and sunset is on the other, even in the midst of winter. At La Plagne in winter the sun just travels across one side of the sky so sunset and sunrise happen in much the same place.

On Christmas Day at La Plagne we were treated to Fireworks and a lantern run performed by the ski instructors who managed to navigate quite a steep run while in formation.

For the kids there were also Christmas Elves roaming around the village handing out chocolate.

I was quite impressed with the Christmas festivities that the village put on for all their guests.

As i've hinted previously, I spent Christmas in the ski village of La Plagne in the french alps. It was very picturesque and we had almost two weeks of solid sunshine.

La Plagne put on some spectacularChristmas celebrations for all of its guests including this figure skating performance by a team of professional skaters on Christmas Eve.

The skaters were fantastic and had a lot of fun interacting with the audience who were pressed up against the edges of the rink.
