Happy to share our latest paper lead by my amazing Honours students (now PhD student) Kamryn Carter. We used modern genomics to look at the diversity of an old endemic gecko from the Chilean Atacama desert, and found very deep hidden diversity, so what was being recently proposed as a single species is at the very least two old species and potentially a bunch of other species in there too. This shows the power of looking at the secrets DNA hides. A lot more work to do on this system for sure! The two photos correspond to Garthia gaudichaudii and Garthia penai. Message me for a PDF.

2. Alsodes tumultuosus
