An anniversary is a pretty great excuse to update the family photos 🤍

This gorgeous family booked their session to celebrate Mum & Dad’s anniversary - and I love this idea!

We’re great at taking ALL the photos when the kids are little, but somehow as they get older, those proper family photos become fewer and further between.

Anniversaries, birthdays, milestones… or simply realising it’s been way too long since everyone was actually in the photo 😅 They’re all good reasons to book.

And a Canberra sunset by Lake Burley Griffin doesn’t hurt either. 😍

This little guy had absolutely no plans to sleep for his newborn photos 😂🤍

I always do everything I can to get those sleepy, curled-up newborn images, but sometimes baby has other ideas, and that’s completely okay!

He gave me maybe 10 minutes of sleep (if that!) and we still created a gallery full of the most beautiful images. Those wide eyes, tiny expressions and curious little looks are just as special as the sleepy ones… and honestly, I love the extra personality they bring to a gallery.

It’s also why I don’t want parents to worry too much about that magical “newborn window”. Yes, those first couple of weeks can be ideal for those extra sleepy, curled-up poses, but if your baby is a little older, you absolutely haven’t missed your chance.

We simply work with your baby, follow their lead, and capture them exactly as they are. 🤍

So if your newborn decides sleep is overrated on photo day… don’t stress. We’ll still make something beautiful.

A cosy winter maternity session by the lake 🤍
These two getting ready to welcome their first little one, and honestly… Canberra really showed off for us with this sunset.

One of my favourite things about being new to Canberra is getting to discover so many beautiful places to shoot. This was my first time photographing at Lake Burley Griffin and I think it’s safe to say I’ll be back 😂

Cool winter air, a cosy knit dress, beautiful light and two very excited parents-to-be. Pretty perfect really.

Expectation: Peaceful maternity session with glowing parents. 😅

Reality: A toddler doing gymnastics, being launched into the air by Dad, and approximately 47 rounds of running around the studio. 😂

And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The best family photos don’t happen because children sit perfectly still. They happen because they’re allowed to be themselves.

This little guy kept us on our toes the entire session. We played games, had cuddles, tickles, plenty of flying with Dad (safely, of course!), and captured all those genuine little moments in between.

Bonus? It was warm inside, no one was freezing through a Canberra winter, and Mum looked absolutely gorgeous in nothing more than a white tank and her favourite pair of jeans.

You don’t need a flowing maternity gown or a perfectly behaved toddler to create beautiful photographs. You just need to show up as you are.

If you’re expecting and wondering whether your toddler is “too much” or you don’t know what to wear… I promise, you’ve already got everything you need. 🤍

This session felt a little bit special.

Watching a mum show up for her kids with so much love, patience, strength and laughter was a beautiful reminder that families come in all shapes and sizes.

What matters isn’t how your family looks.

It’s the love within it.

And these three have that in abundance. 🤍🤍🤍

The sunset was beautiful, but watching these kids adore their mum might have been my favourite part.

Myra turned ONE… and she made sure we all knew it 🧁🥳
Celebrating her birthday at Umm Al Emarat Park with sunshine, cuddles, and just the right amount of cake-covered chaos. There’s something so special about photographing a little one on their actual birthday — the curiosity, the cheeky smiles, and those tiny frosting fingers.
Safe to say Myra fully embraced the cake smash experience… and I loved every second of it 🤍
