There’s something I’ve realised since becoming a Mum…

Choosing between a perfectly posed photo and a photo that shows my girls as they are...I know which one I’d choose.

Give me the photo where someone is laughing.

Someone isn't looking at the camera.

Someone is pulling a funny face.

Give me the photos that bring back the feeling of that part of life.

Because when I look at photographs of my own girls, I don't just want to remember what they looked like.

I want to remember them.

Their little personalities.

The way they laughed.

How small they were in my arms.

The things they did that were completely unique to them.

I love that I'm not just creating pretty pictures,
I'm creating little pieces of your family's story.

This little guy was a bit camera shy during our session, and honestly… it worked out so well.

Why?

When I photograph families, I’m not just looking for everyone smiling at the camera. I’m looking for the in-between moments.

Some of the most beautiful photos are the ones where noone is looking at the camera.

And these are the moments I want you to remember!

The moments that happened naturally. The moments you didn't notice because you were busy living them.

Mum reaching for a little hand.

The reasuring cuddles.

Siblings interacting.

I find myself doing this with my own girls too. They’ll do something so completely them and I just wish I could bottle that moment. Because they’re growing, changing, and the days don’t stay the same for long.

Yes, we’ll get the photo of everyone looking at the camera.

But I’ll also be watching for these split seconds.

The little moments you’ll want to come back to years from now.

Mum, I’m talking to you! 👋🏼

Clearly, this is something I genuinely believe in, and this photo is a pretty good reminder of why.

I’m so often the one behind the camera in our family. Capturing the kids. Taking the photo. Making sure everyone else is in it.

And if I’m honest, it can be so easy to think, “I’ll get in the photo next time.”

When my hair is done a little nicer.

When I’m dressed better.

When I feel more comfortable.

When I’m not so tired.

When the kids are a little older.

But our kids don’t need a perfect version of us. They just need us.

They need to look back and see Mum cuddling them, laughing with them, holding their hands and being right there in the middle of their childhood.

I’m not just saying it… I’m showing you that I believe it enough to do it myself!

Because one day, this season will be over.
And I want my kids to have photographs that show I was there too. 🤍

Yep...so I knew I wanted to capture these two in a quiet minute together 🤍

Not because they could be perfectly posed or because we needed another “nice photo” of them.

But because in the middle of the noise, the cuddles, the chaos and the beautiful fullness of family life… there needs to be little moments where it’s just the two of them.

I think, one day, these might be the moments they treasure most.

The little glance.

The hands being held together.

The love in the little smile.

When I photograph families, I’m not just looking for everyone smiling at the camera.

I’m looking for this.

The little pieces of your family that you’re living right now, but might not realise you’ll want to remember forever 🤍

The reality is…children don’t want to 'perform' for photos.

It’s not fun for them to sit still and smile on cue for someone they don’t know (and sometimes even less fun when they do know me)!

And that’s okay.

It means we get to play instead.

To run, explore, be silly, and let their personalities lead the session.

Because really… this isn’t about perfect smiles.
It’s a snapshot of the season they’re in — exactly as they are.

Stepping into something truly special!

The kind of place that’s picturesque and unique in an effortless way, in Gunning.

From the very beginning, Mikaela carried a joy that was impossible to miss — easily the happiest I’ve ever seen! Constant smiles and laughter, the kind that spreads to everyone around her.

With an intimate group of family and friends, the whole day felt warm and personal. Everyone there was truly part of something meaningful ❤️

Wrapping up the day in the most beautiful way, the sky turned the softest shades of pink as the sun set 🌅
