While this is said to be a post menopausal uterus and ovaries, hence the size it is still amazing to see!

It is a post menopausal uterus and ovaries removed in a radical hysterectomy. Education is incredible. Visuals are heaven!😆 They truly give you a better grasp on a concept. This is an adult post menopausal uterus. The average uterus is 3-4 inches by 2.5 inches. In menstruating woman the uterus grows up to 3x its original size. “When your baby reaches full term, your uterus will be bigger than five times its original size with a capacity of 500 times more than before you conceived. It'll be 15 times heavier on its own without the baby and the placenta. After you give birth, the uterus immediately starts contracting to shrink itself. One week after delivery it'll weigh about 1.5 pounds but two weeks after birth it'll be down to 11 ounces. By the six week after pregnancy it'll be back to its pre-pregnancy weight of 2.5 ounces.” Pregnancy-Info.net Isn’t that incredible! 😲 Such a small organ that slightly differs in pre, post or in child bearing woman but it literally populates the world. 🧬🧬

Apart from photography there is one thing I am really passionate about and that is Birth!!

Then photographing the Birth of a Baby...Well that is just the cherry on top 🍒

Birth Photography isn't for everyone and that's okay but imagine wanting this ever so important milestone in your life documented and being told flat out NO!

Well this is what is happening time and time again when a mother chooses to or is required to have their baby via cesarean section. We aren't talking emergency/crash situations here, we are talking well planned weeks, even months in advance procedures. Often the birthing mothers are given the go ahead and at the last minute being told "NO NO this isn't happening"
Still on the fence and don't think it is all that important? Let's put it this way
It's you wedding day, you are about to get ready and then someone says "Sorry you can't have your professional photographer but it's okay, that guest over there can take some photos on his mobile phone"
Or your getting family photos, maybe someone is un well and don't have much time left you are on location ready to go and then there's a "sorry no professional photos for you, just take some on your phone, you'll be right you'll still remember them"
Being denied in both those situations is just ludicrous so why should a cesarean birth be any different!

April is Cesarean Awareness Month yep i know it's May 1st here in Aus but it's still April in the USA for a few more hours and I have newborn so here I am weeks after i intended to share these images and to say to the 1:3 amazing women (like me) who welcomed there babes to their arms via Cesarean Section that your passage to motherhood isn't defined by the way you birth your baby but by the way you so fiercely love your child that you made birthing choices that were the best for both of you!
