A serene moment unfolded as Buzz hovered effortlessly just two feet above the water, radiating calm, while the approaching Swans seemed entirely unfazed, their tranquility a testament to the harmony of the scene.

Righto πŸ˜ƒ... what another fantastic day here at Speed Ranch! πŸšπŸ‘Œ

This morning was another early start when we heard the chopper fire up right beside the van. Not that we needed it β€” the alarm was already set for what would become a truly mind-blowing experience.

A huge thank you to James for taking us to places most people could only dream of seeing and giving us a once-in-a-lifetime adventure we'll never forget.

So, with Tina and Buzz aboard (Buzz sporting "clipped props" 😜), we lifted off into the cool morning air. With a chilly breeze flowing through where the doors would normally be, we ventured across the landscape, patiently waiting for the rising sun to awaken those magnificent cliffs we had been admiring from below.

As the first light crept across the ranges, the colours came alive, and climbing to around 2,500 feet revealed a view beyond anything we could have imagined. Endless canyons, towering cliffs and deep gorges stretched across the horizon, showcasing the sheer vastness and beauty of this remarkable country.

Along the way, James explained that this entire area was once the seabed. 😳 Looking across the landscape, you could actually see evidence of ancient waterlines, with only small plateaus rising above what was once an inland sea some 50 million years ago. It was hard to comprehend while floating high above it all.

This flight was truly what dreams are made of. We felt incredibly privileged that James shared this experience with us. This is our second visit here, and simply seeing these cliffs from the ground was a treat in itself. To now witness them from above added a whole new perspective and made us appreciate this spectacular landscape even more.

We hope you enjoy these photos and get just a small glimpse of what we were lucky enough to experience this morning.

This breathtaking country forms part of the Carnarvon Station Reserve and stretches all the way through to Carnarvon Gorge.

What a morning! πŸ’―πŸ‘Œ

Today we were treated to an experience we'll never forget. James took us up in the chopper for a flight over this incredible country, giving us a bird's-eye view of the spectacular mountain ranges, rugged landscapes and endless horizons that make this part of Australia so special.

We only just got back and I haven't even had a chance to properly look through all the photos I captured yet, but if these first couple are anything to go by, there are some absolute beauties coming!

Stay tuned for more photos and a closer look at this amazing adventure. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸš

Here's a little teaser to get you excited! πŸ˜†πŸ“Έβœ¨

πŸ€ πŸ’™ What a Day! πŸ’™πŸ€

Today was one of those days that will stay with us for a very long time. We were treated to spectacular scenery, healthy fat cattle, and the privilege of watching a team of people who handled their stock with skill, patience and professionalism. It was a fantastic day, and I still can't believe some of the photos Buzz managed to capture along the way. πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜ƒ

As the afternoon rolled around, everyone gathered together for a few drinks and some great conversation. The stories flowed almost as freely as the laughter, making for a very enjoyable and interesting afternoon.

Then it was upstairs for a delicious roast beef and baked vegetable dinner. Between the warm hospitality, good company and stunning surroundings, it didn't take much convincing at all for us to stay another day! πŸ˜ƒ

Tomorrow promises to be something special. We'll be taking to the skies in a helicopter for a scenic flight along this magnificent mountain range, followed by a visit to a National Park that we're told has one of the largest concentrations of natural spring water emerging from the ground anywhere around.

So buckle up and don't leave your seats, because there is plenty more incredible scenery and outback adventure still to come. πŸšπŸžοΈπŸ’™πŸ€

What started as a quick stop has turned into an unforgettable experience, and we're loving every minute of it. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘ŒπŸ’―

🀠 A Morning on the Muster – What a Day! πŸ„πŸ’™

This morning we jumped into the utes and headed out to the paddocks where the cattle muster was already underway.

Before getting down to business, we made a small detour to check out the dam β€” and what a sight greeted us! There were probably 40–50 Black Swans gliding gracefully across the water, enjoying their morning cruise. With the mountain range rising in the background, it was one of those picture-perfect scenes that makes you stop and appreciate the beauty of the Australian bush. πŸ’―πŸ‘ŒπŸ’™

Meanwhile, the ringers had spread out across the property and were steadily bringing the herd together. We made our way to the holding paddock and waited as around 800 head of cattle settled in. I have to say, these were some of the quietest cattle I've ever seen. They wandered right up to us without a care in the world, and even Buzz didn't bother them one bit.

In fact, Buzz seemed to think he was one of the ringers, helping keep the herd together and making sure everything stayed under control! πŸ˜‚πŸΎ

After watching the cattle settle, we headed back to the homestead for a coffee while the team enjoyed their morning tea. Then it was time for the main event β€” bringing the cattle into the yards.

What impressed me most was how smoothly the whole operation ran. No runaways, no dramas, just good stockmanship, teamwork and experience on display. It was fascinating to watch the cattle flow steadily towards the yards as the crew quietly went about their work.

After our own smoko break, we returned to watch the final mob arrive, bringing a great morning to a close.

A huge thank you to the Speed family for making us feel like part of the team. Their hospitality was second to none, and they welcomed not only us but also Buzz, who thoroughly enjoyed getting up close to the action and being part of the day's adventure.

A big thank you to Liz Speed Photography for giving us the guided tour today πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜ƒ

Days like this are what life on the land is all about β€” good people, beautiful country, and experiences you'll never forget.

Just the best day. πŸ‘ŒπŸ€ πŸ„πŸ’™πŸ˜ƒ

Well, tonight certainly took an unexpected turn! 🀠πŸ”₯

We were all gathered around the campfire, enjoying one of those great country conversations about life on the land, old college days, and plenty of stories in between. Then out of the blue came the question...

"Would you like to join us on the muster tomorrow and stay another night?"😳😳😳
I looked at James and said, "What time do you want to get going in the morning?"
His reply...
"Oh, we should get moving around 6.00am."

πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚

I wandered back to tell Tina the news, expecting a little hesitation. Instead, she sounded pretty excited about becoming a cowgirl for the day! πŸ€ πŸ„

To be honest, I'm really looking forward to seeing the boys in action and getting a firsthand look at what goes into a station muster.

Then the night got even more interesting. We were sitting around the fire when Liz arrived. She walked over, looked at me and said, "How are you, Bluey?"
😳

What a small world! Liz and I have been following each other on Facebook for quite some time, but we'd never actually met in person. So now, not only are we joining the muster, but the talented Liz Speed Photography will be there as well.

Country hospitality at its finest, new friendships, old mates, and tomorrow a real station muster.

What could possibly go wrong? πŸ˜‚πŸ€ πŸ„

We started the morning beside beautiful Lake Nuga Nuga, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the incredible birdlife before packing up and heading west to our next stop near Springsure, at the foot of the stunning Carnarvon Station Reserve.

This property is owned and operated by the wonderful

Speed family. We first visited back in 2021, and at that time James, who I went to college with, was pretty much running the place with his station hands.

Arriving today, we could hardly believe the transformation! The place is looking so good we learned that James' son and daughter-in-law have now moved onto the property and are helping the "Old Man Speed" keep everything running smoothly. πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚

It's always a pleasure catching up with James, sharing a few stories, and taking in that magnificent view of the ranges stretching across the horizon. Some places just have a way of making you feel right at home.

Another great day on the road. πŸšβ˜€οΈπŸ‘

Oh I got the call today with a date for my knee replacement 😳 in one month I better be a good boy and not have anymore Falls πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œ
