When walking the streets of Bologna, be sure to keep an eye on the ground at all times. Many paths in the city centre are paved with slabs of marble like this one. A local man told me that when the streets were being built they had no idea that the marble had been under the sea hundreds/thousands of years ago until it was cut into slabs and fossils like this one became visible. In my wanderings I found at least ten on one street! ☺️👍
