Cheery Canola theme continued… this morning I had the absolute delight of travelling down ‘Canola alley’ in Glenthompson. Wow wow and wow. Miles of canola and miles of mountains (the Grampians). Photography heaven. It was wonderful to have full sun for most of this- while the clouds were above some mountains they weren’t blocking the sun. Until later when it pretty much completely clouded over - but not before a flash of intense sun on the canola and stormy skies. The last hurrah lol. Good fun. What these photos don’t show you however is how windy it was - nearly got blown off my side step I use to get a bit higher in photos lol.

How wonderful has the weather been today? 20 degrees said the car thermometer at one point - haven’t seen that in a long time.
My daughter and I had lots of jobs/appointments in Hamilton today but we managed to fit in some canola touring! You can imagine how rapt I was to find canola in front of the Grampians with fog lifting!! Just beautiful. In the afternoon there was no cloud at all which was great as there was always sun shining on the canola. I really think canola needs sun to make that yellow pop. Hope you’re having a great day.

I found Cross Face! So excited. She is with the same mob she was originally with. These lambs have been marked and put in a smaller paddock, so much easier to find her. I can only guess that her and her mum and white twin did a runner - and then came back. How brilliant are her markings! Such a stunning looking lamb. Photos taken on our farm in Byaduk.

I love seabirds, no doubt because I don’t get to see them that often. The size of the Pacific Gull is inspiring, the juvenile looks so different to the adult. I also love Pied Oyster Catchers. I had a great time in Port Fairy taking photos of these birds - until a man with a dog off leash scared all the birds away - multiple times! That’s the good and the bad thing of public beaches - birds somewhat used to people because there are lots of people but not all people are respectful of you taking bird photos lol.

What a beautiful evening it was at Port Fairy last night. First there were beautiful stormy reflections on the river. Then I was rapt to see rare anticrepuscular rays at East Beach. These are rays opposite to the sun. I’ve only seen them 4 times in my life - 3 times around sunset at East Beach. Amazing phenomenon. Then the sunset itself lit up in bright reds behind the houses and the Surf Life Saving Club Building! I was desperately trying to find good natural foreground - found some trees lol.

Apologies for photo bombardment. Port Fairy is such a beautiful place. This morning there was this amazing roll cloud. I couldn’t stop myself taking photos of it - it looked so impressive! Also amazed at the contrast between the left side of beach (roll cloud, stormy looking) and right side (beautiful sunny day).

While I was waiting for the sunset to happen in Port Fairy (see previous post) I was delighted to find a relatively friendly Pacific Gull. This bird let me get quite close to him, and I took so many photos in the end it was me that walked away lol. The bird kept looking for food in the incoming surf the whole sunset shoot.
