Starting daycare is a big change for some dogs, and not every pup walks in ready to become the mayor of the playroom on day one ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿถ

Some dogs settle in quickly, while others need a little time to sniff, observe and get comfortable with their new environment. Thatโ€™s completely normal, and itโ€™s why we take a calm, thoughtful approach when introducing new dogs to daycare.

At Gold Coast Doggy Daycare, we help new dogs settle in by:
๐Ÿพ Introducing them at their own pace
๐Ÿพ Matching them with suitable playmates and the right group
๐Ÿพ Using rest periods throughout the day to avoid overwhelm
๐Ÿพ Giving them time to build confidence over multiple visits

Our Intro Pass is designed to help with exactly that, 3 daycare days for $120, valid for 21 days, so new dogs can settle into the routine, get to know our team, and start building positive relationships with their new friends ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

If youโ€™ve been thinking about daycare for your pup and have questions about how they might settle in, feel free to get in touch, weโ€™re always happy to help.

๐Ÿถ Does your dog love daycare?

While every dog is different, there are a few tell tale signs that your pup is having the time of their life at daycare!

๐Ÿพ They pull you towards the door at drop off
๐Ÿพ They get excited when they see their lead, daycare bag, or hear certain words
๐Ÿพ They come home happy and settle in for a well earned nap
๐Ÿพ They arrive wagging their tail and ready to see their friends again

One of our favourite things to see is a dog that canโ€™t wait to get through the gate each morning. Building confidence, friendships, and positive experiences is what daycare is all about.

How does your dog tell you theyโ€™re excited for daycare? Let us know in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ•

One of the biggest misconceptions about dog daycare is that dogs should be playing from drop off until pick up.

In reality, good daycare is all about balance.

Play is important, but so is rest. Just like people, dogs can become overtired, overstimulated, and make poorer social choices when they donโ€™t get enough downtime.

Thatโ€™s why all of our daycare dogs enjoy two scheduled rest periods throughout the day. During these quiet times, engagement is kept to a minimum, the lights are dimmed, and calming music is played to help everyone switch off and recharge.

Some dogs also spend time in our Sleepy Snouts Suites for their lunchtime break, while others may spend additional time there if they benefit from a little extra rest during the day.

A balanced day is a better day, and we find that regular rest periods help create calmer, happier, and more successful daycare experiences for our dogs. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ค

โ„๏ธ KEEPING YOUR DOG HAPPY & HEALTHY THIS GOLD COAST WINTER ๐Ÿพ

We might not get freezing winters on the Gold Coast, but the cooler mornings and shorter days can still affect our dogs more than people realise!

Here are a few simple ways to keep your pup feeling their best this winter:

๐Ÿถ Keep up regular exercise
Cooler weather is actually perfect for many dogs to stay active without overheating. Regular walks, daycare play and enrichment help keep joints healthy and energy levels balanced.

๐Ÿง  Donโ€™t let boredom sneak in
When routines change, dogs can become restless at home. Training games, social interaction and mental enrichment are just as important as physical exercise.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Give them a cosy place to rest
Even on the Gold Coast, some dogs, especially puppies, seniors and short coated breeds love having a warm comfy spot to recharge.

๐Ÿ’ง Keep an eye on water intake
Dogs often drink less in cooler weather, so make sure fresh water is always available.

๐Ÿพ Maintain social interaction
Regular interaction with other dogs and people helps build confidence and keeps dogs mentally fulfilled year round.

Winter is honestly one of the best times for dogs to enjoy being active here on the Coastโ€ฆ fewer scorching hot footpaths and far less โ€œI walked outside and immediately regretted itโ€ moments. ๐Ÿ˜‚
