✨A little moment of reflection from the South West ✨
This week I had the privilege of travelling out to South Western Queensland to present at a domestic violence forum — Those who know me well enough, know why this work matters so deeply.
On my final day, an incredible woman treated me to a tour of the gorgeous town that is
As we drove around, I found myself reminiscing about my own time living and working in rural communities… the places that shaped me, inspired me, and taught me lessons I still carry today.
I met another amazing photographer, who like me, plays has many hobbies, dreams, plans and not enough time in her day. She is driven, and so amazing at what she does and I could seriously spend every single day in her quaint little plant / gift shop!
She reminded me about the beauty of our rural communities, and inspired me to again chase my dream to start shooting more landscapes. - Katrina we are doing that flight!
While waiting for my plane home, I started scrolling through old photo galleries from those years I spent in country towns & came across some of my most favourite images — dusty roads, big skies, quiet paddocks, and little moments that kept me grounded.
It reminded me of how I picked up photography as a way to protect my mental health, to chase moments of calm, and to find my happy place behind a lens.
And honestly… I felt a little proud. - Proud of the distance between who I was then and who I am now - and despite the distance from my metropolitan abode to the welcoming warm dusty sanctuary that is Charleville, I know I’ll be back sooner than I expected.
I am Proud of the achievements — even the small wins that no one else sees. I am Proud of the growth that comes from doing the work, facing the hard days, and still choosing to show up.
Here’s to the people who walk alongside us, the communities that welcome us in, and the journeys that remind us just how far we’ve come. 💛📸✈️
Thankyou Charleville for reminding this girl to keep chasing her dreams!
