Millie the Black Kite 🪶
The story of Broome’s famous beloved bird Millie, performed as a play in the Shinju Matsuri Festival.
Millie was a once rescued by wildlife carers and released as an adult to be a wild bird.
But, that wasn’t Millie’s plan.
She soon became very well known for teasing dogs on the beach, and begging for food and cuddles at some of Broome’s well known food outlets.
One day in 2023, a storm rolled in and Millie sought shelter on a cruise ship. By the time the storm had passed they were too far off the coast for Millie to fly home.
Because of Australia’s bio-security laws Millie isn’t allowed to return home. So now, she is safely enclosed in the Bali Bird Park where she will live out the rest of her days.
We miss you Millie 💗
