“Of lAtE I tHiNk oF RiChArD vErTiCaL…” 
Richard Vertical was born suddenly - backstage to two travelling vaudevillians (Percy and Maud) - and, by all accounts, entered the world at a slight angle. 
Richard Vertical suffered horrendous vertigo - and at twelve, tired of stairs, spills, and general sidewaysness - Constructed the “EQUILIBRIMISER” - a peculiar apparatus designed to put himself, once and for all, the right way up. 
It worked rather better than expected. 
For years he refined his unique abilities in private, until announcing his first touring production:
“RICHARD VERTICAL’S VERTICAL PERSPECTIVE SPECTACLE!”
(An Evening of Astonishing Angles, Perpendicular Perils & Other Feats of Questionable Orientation!) 
Richard was due to unveil himself before a captive audience on the evening of the 17th of April. 
He never arrived. 
Somewhere between stations, Richard Vertical disappeared from a locked railway carriage containing his luggage, seventeen audio tapes, and one perfectly ordinary ceiling. 
The window was not left open.

RESEARCHER’S NOTES:
Unresolved. 
Maybe: Beatrice Sprig. Mary Anne Sprig.  Grubbins? Remains disputed. 
MACHINE: “ARTIFICIAL EUREKA!”
Made light? Gave answers? Supernatural?” 
One account: “Machine sent telepathic waves”  Another: “Planted fictitious people into minds of others” 
No record of birth, schooling, family or death. 
Only the photographs. 
Note on photograph: small paper appearing.  Odd.  
More questions than answers.

“Of lAtE I tHiNk oF HuMpHrEy PuMbLe BlOoM… 
There was something about Humphrey Pumble Bloom. 
As a child, teachers regularly marked him absent while he sat directly in front of them.   At the age of thirteen, he attended his own birthday party for nearly an hour before anyone thought to ask where he was - he was holding the cake. 
It was perhaps inevitable, then, that Humphrey should devote himself to the problem of invisibility. 
In 1953, after eleven years of private experiments, he completed a small device capable of projecting a convincing image of nothing onto almost anything. 
Humphrey tested the machine on himself at 11:43pm one Thursday evening in a private corridor of the office building where he worked at the time.  
According to a few words later discovered on a piece of paper in humphreys desk - the experiment was a complete success. 
For three days he moved unnoticed. He attended meetings, Stood in line, ate at the family dinner table. Once, he listened as two men attempted to recall the man who used to work here named Harry something.

One Monday morning, an odd machine was discovered beneath an empty chair at the rear of the office building - still running. 
Nobody remembers Humphrey leaving.

“Of lAtE I ThInK oF ZoE Zefferin…” 
In the small hours of the 14th of November, Zoe Zefferin had an idea that would occupy the next twenty-one years of her life. She was twelve years old.
At thirty-three, having devoted herself almost entirely to the pursuit, Zoe put the finishing touches on the “Glowatroposcope” - an invention of considerable magnitude and, it was later understood, some power.
On the evening of its completion, while dining in a restaurant at full capacity, Zoe accidentally set the dial to 15. There was no explosion. No flash of light. No sound that anyone could remember.
Zoe was never seen again. The restaurant has since been abandoned. It stands somewhere along Highway 13, its windows dark and its dining room largely intact. From time to time, travellers have reported seeing a faint, inexplicable glow coming from somewhere inside.
No satisfactory explanation has ever been given.

In the late 1940’s Clifford potemkin made an invention that would threaten to change the very nature of communication itself - Only one prototype was ever made, before Clifford vanished from a street corner at 4:15am in a small cloud of blue smoke that was observed only by one Mary Rottener. Nobody believes her. Nobody has ever seen Clifford again. Nobody knows what happened to the prototype. This is the only Relic of a strange man with a strange plan that remains... Recent campaign work for “Pipin.” Words cannot express the joy I feel whenever I work with the wondrous, wonderfully playful and always eternally creatively open Pipin! Our collaboration has spanned many years, many many projects, and much much creative trust. Each new adventure feels like the birth of something brand new, and every shoot or music video is made in the spirit of spontaneity and pure play. I hope ya’ll enjoy these images!
