A moment of order in the chaos of the bay.

A group of Pied Cormorants perched along the old pylons, each one finding its place while the water shifted endlessly around them.

I photographed this scene during one of those calm Queensland days where everything seemed to pause for just a moment. It's the kind of image that reveals more the longer you sit with it β€” the rhythm of the birds, the weathered timber, and the contrast between stillness and movement.

"Group of Pied Cormorants" is now available as a fine art print, canvas, or framed artwork for your home or office.

The single biggest difference between a snapshot and a portrait is where the camera is. πŸ“Έ
Most people photograph their dog from standing height β€” which means you're looking down at them. The result is a photo that feels small, compressed and a little dismissive.
Get on one knee. Get on the ground. Get below eye level.
Shooting at or below a dog's eye level does three things:
It creates equality.
The dog isn't below you anymore β€” they're your subject, not your pet.
It changes the background.
From standing height your background is ground. From low, your background is sky, trees, water β€” everything more interesting.
It adds presence.
Even a small dog looks powerful from low angle. A Great Dane from the ground looks like a mythical creature.

Dirty knees are part of the job. Worth it every time. 🌿

Hi Everyone!

I'm Aditi β€” a local photographer, owner of
Devmatri Photography based in Everton Park specialising in nature-led outdoor dog portraits across Brisbane.

I'm currently building my portfolio and have opened up number of complimentary session spots. I'm especially interested in photographing large breeds, unique breeds, senior dogs, puppies and owner-and-dog pair to help expand the connection and storytelling side of my portfolio.

What's included:
βœ… Relaxed outdoor session at your dog's pace
βœ… 5 professionally edited digital images
βœ… Option to purchase additional images from the session

I work entirely at your dog's pace β€” no studio, no stress, no forcing moments. Sessions take place in beautiful outdoor locations where dogs can relax, explore and simply be themselves. That's where the best portraits happen.

These portfolio sessions are offered at no cost in exchange for permission to use selected images across my website, portfolio, social media and future marketing materials. An honest review if you love the images is all I ask in return.

Meet Arlo. 🐾

A field golden who arrived to his session knowing exactly what was expected of him β€” and delivered it perfectly every single time.
Arlo is trained to stay and look at the camera, which meant from the very first frame we were working together rather than working around each other. The result is exactly what you see here.
Every dog brings something different to a session. Arlo brought professionalism and a face that was impossible to take a bad photo of.
Arlo, it was an absolute pleasure. πŸ…

A great portrait session starts long before the camera comes out. 🐾

A few small things can completely change how relaxed, focused and natural your dog feels during a shoot β€” and relaxed dogs always photograph better.

🐾 Exercise them beforehand
A dog who’s had a walk, swim or proper run is far more likely to settle into the session instead of trying to explode with excitement the entire time.

🦴 Bring their highest value treat
Not the everyday biscuit. Bring the thing they absolutely cannot resist. That’s what gets the ears up and attention locked in at exactly the right moment.

⏰ Arrive a little early
Giving dogs a few minutes to sniff, explore and settle into the environment makes a huge difference β€” especially for nervous or highly alert dogs.

🚿 Skip the fresh grooming appointment
Clean is perfect, but overly fluffed coats can sometimes photograph less naturally than a dog that simply looks like themselves.

😌 Relax
Dogs read our energy constantly. If you’re calm, they usually settle much faster too. You don’t need your dog to perform perfectly β€” that part is my job.

Meet Arlo. 🐾
A field golden who arrived to his session fully prepared β€” trained to stay, knew exactly where to look, and gave me clean shot after clean shot from the very first frame.

Working with a well trained dog is a completely different experience. No chasing, no waiting β€” just the two of you working together and the portraits practically creating themselves.

Arlo was an absolute pleasure from start to finish.

At Devmatri Photography sessions move at your dog's pace β€” whether that's full energy or picture perfect calm, there's a story worth telling either way.

Sessions now open across Brisbane & surrounds.

Jolly's Lookout. Early morning. Just this. 🐦

The Laughing Kookaburra is one of those subjects you never stop wanting to photograph. That silhouette against the D'Aguilar Range bush is as Queensland as it gets β€” and getting it right takes patience, a long lens, and a bird that cooperates just long enough.

Available as a fine art print through Riptide Prints, shipped worldwide from $75.
