Adapting & transitioning your services.
It wasn't that long ago when the digital media format was introduced & took over from film.At the time I thought I was getting too old & set in my ways to evolve into digital due to the fact that I couldn't even turn on a computer let alone work out how to use editing programmes such as Photoshop.
The learning curve seemed too daunting & too hard I thought.Fast forward a few years later & I'm now flying drones through warehouse & capturing not only stills but video as well.Funny thing is I felt the same way about capturing video as I did when I made the transition from film to digital.
While on a shoot, this particular client asked if I could capture a short clip of their production,I said I'm no Steven Spielberg but I'll give it a try.

Happy Friday Everyone.
This week I was on a top secret photo shoot assignment at a facility where computer circuit boards are manufactured, not just any old circuit boards but circuit boards which are installed to control & run machinery for the Coal mining and the Defence industry etc, unfortunately I swore to secrecy & I can't reveal any detailed images but here are 2 images which I consider safe to showcase.

Do I love my job or what?

First shot ( as in photo shot ) of the day & let's just say this coffee didn't go to waist.

I love this shot (as in coffee shot, gees I'm on fire today lol)

Warm golden lighting was the choice for this photo as to create a heartwarming drink for the cool winter season approaching.

This particular shoot was cancelled & re booked several times due to bad weather but as you can see the wait was worth it.Here are 2 reasons why I love using the late afternoon or early morning light to capture Architectural images.

I was experimenting with studio lighting last week on this gorgeous Raw Nubuck Leather Lounge, the trick was to highlight & showcase the detail & curvature in the stitching which is implemented on the back-rest.Once a decision is made on backgrounds, lighting etc I'll reveal more images from this particular supplier.

Black on Black on Black.
Horatio & Finn were in the studio once again to have their new range of products to be photographed.Patience of steel were required to have these products photographed as the client requests to have it photographed on black as to create the mood they want so strategically placed lighting was used to help separate the detail from the bottles from the packaging & from the background.
After receiving the brief & the client was nearly out the door he said,One last thing,Is it possible to have the product falling into water creating a splash explosion ? My reply was no problem at all as my eyes were rolling up thinking this is going to be a nightmare but with a little thinking & some help from my electronic editing programme it ended up being a breeze.

Want to see a photograph with all the elements of a headache ?
Well, here it is.
1. Black Product
2. Reflective/shiny black product
3. A rounded shaped product
4. Black Background
5. White text on the product
6. To top it all off, the client requested some action to be included.

Horatio & Finn were happy with the last photoshoot results & they came back for more & do I love a challenge.
Careful thought & consideration was taken when lighting this product as to highlight all the subtle details & elements on the bottle such as shape, colour, etc. Lighting was positioned in strategic areas & created to give the bottle shape but without interfering with the text. The text was lit with a separate light source & reflectors. The bottle was actually supported & photographed upside down. The liquid wouldn't flow out on it's own unless the bottle was shaken by hand so the droplets of liquid had to be captured separately & then combined into the photo using computer software. Porfyri

Cookers supply just about every oil you can think of to every restaurant, kitchen or venue Australia wide. They are a sustainable company with the environment in mind. You can see from the photographs they supply cooking oils from the Versace on the Gold Coast to the legendary Breakfast Creek Hotel and to the local take away.Every year I capture some of their vehicles outside some familiar venues for their promotional material. # .com.au

All for the sake of science & research.
I spent the day photographing Scientists undertaking research procedures at the Dept of Agriculture & Fisheries a couple of weeks ago. One group of Scientists were monitoring & researching fruit flies and yes I had to stick my camera & half my body into a cage full of fruit flies as to capture them eating, breeding & laying their eggs on apples (mmm lucky me)
Of-course my humor took the better of me & asked for a can of Mortein but nobody was willing to find one.
