You hired someone to take marketing off your plate.

Somehow, it’s still on your plate. Now with more questions.

Can you approve this post?
What should we say on the website?
Is the event more important than the email?
Who are we targeting with this, anyway?

Those are reasonable questions. But answering them between client meetings becomes another job.

Your coordinator can organise the work, create the content and keep things moving. They still need to know what the business is trying to achieve, who matters most and which priorities can wait.

Without those decisions, everything comes back to you.

A useful place to start this week: agree on the three marketing priorities that matter most, what can wait, and what your team can decide without checking with you.

That’s part of the work I do through Fractional Marketing Direction—setting priorities and guiding your people and suppliers so you’re carrying less of the day-to-day thinking.

Does this feel familiar in your business?

When a service is hard to explain, don’t try to explain everything at once.

Start with the question your audience is already asking.

For Trellis Media, we built this piece around one clear question: what does media confidence actually mean?

It gave Brooke the space to share her expertise while turning an abstract idea into something her audience could immediately understand and recognise in themselves.

That’s the role of strategic content: not simply to keep a business visible, but to make its value clearer.

Your business has grown up. Your marketing is still wearing its first suit.

The expertise is stronger. The projects are bigger. Your clients know what you’re capable of.

But the website could belong to any of your competitors. Your best work barely gets mentioned. And explaining why someone should choose you takes longer than it should.

I see this in established professional services and tech businesses: the business moves forward, while the marketing gets updated one urgent request at a time.

Eventually, the two stop telling the same story.

Before you commission another brochure or ask the team to “get more active on LinkedIn”, it’s worth checking where the disconnect is.

I created the free Brand & Marketing Assessment to help you do that.

Ten minutes to review your audience, message, proof and marketing direction—and work out what deserves your attention first.

People don’t connect with a business, they connect with the person behind it.

For Trellis Media, we created a founder film that introduced Brooke through more than her credentials. Her personality, experience and way of working were just as important as explaining what the business does.

A good founder film isn’t a corporate introduction, It gives people a reason to know you, trust you and want to hear more.

Credibility matters. So does looking like someone people might actually want to work with.

The history of your business isn’t the whole story. Your customers care about what that experience means for them.

Brand storytelling connects the two. It turns where you’ve come from into a clear reason for customers to trust and choose you.
