A softer palette and gentle light give this sunset a completely different feel.

Soft pastel colours painted a different scene as the sun slipped towards the horizon. Calm waters, gentle ripples and a lone yacht resting quietly made for a peaceful end to the day. Sometimes nature whispers rather than puts on a grand display of bold colours.

Taken about ten minutes earlier than the last post.
As the sun briefly broke through the clouds the first signs of winter already beginning to transform this beautiful avenue. The Golden Maples were showing off richer shades amongst the remaining greens, as the first leaves had started to carpet the roadside below.
Hopefully I’ll get to revisit in a couple of weeks and see even more of the green disappearing, replaced by richer golden hues as more leaves fall and this stunning avenue reaches its winter best..

Rain showers through the day left the leaves glistening, and as afternoon gave way to evening, the last of the sunlight cast long shadows beneath the trees. Hints of gold are beginning to appear among the green, offering a glimpse of the autumn colours still to come. Hopefully I’ll be able to revisit in a couple of weeks and time it just right to see this beautiful avenue transformed into a tunnel of gold.

Stepping away from my usual style for a moment, yesterday’s late afternoon light transformed the bay into a pastel dream. A lone White-faced Heron wandered across the mirror-like shallows, its reflection almost as delicate as the fading colours as day quietly slipped into evening, its reflection etched into the still waters beneath it.

Late yesterday afternoon, the mudflats came alive as the day slowly slipped towards evening. The fading sun painted the landscape in soft shades of pink, purple and blue, transforming an ordinary low tide into something quite magical. Sometimes it’s the quiet moments at the end of the day that put on the best show. 🌅

The 3rd of my shots with yet another look on the same afternoon.
A break in the clouds, and though the sun never appeared, the reflections told their own story. Weathered trees mirrored in the still waters of the Stanley River, a stark and beautiful reminder that nature doesn’t need sunshine to shine.

A favourite of mine taken 2 years ago today.
The moon has a way of stopping me in my tracks, no matter how many times I photograph it. Every phase, every cloud, every change of light gives it a different personality. This golden moon, wrapped in drifting cloud, remains one of my favourites.

Its ever-changing face never fails to draw me in. A reminder of why I never tire of looking up.

Shade and light danced across the water as the sun played hide and seek with the clouds, turning Stanley River into a scene that felt almost otherworldly. The dark skies, golden reflections and silent trees created a moment that was impossible to ignore.

A cloudy afternoon settled over the Stanley River, painting the sky in soft shades of grey and blue. The still water mirrored every detail, turning the landscape into a perfect reflection of the hills, clouds and weathered trees standing quietly along the shoreline.

Days like this remind us that even without sunshine, nature has its own way of creating something beautiful. 💙
