GAC Emzoom (Car Review) GAC. No, that wasn’t you clearing your throat, and yes, you’re forgiven for wondering whether it’s pronounced like GMC. In reality, it’s Guangzhou Automobile Group Co; so G A C it is. They are a major state-owned Chinese automaker.

More importantly, they have more than 20 years of experience building Toyotas and Hondas in China. Now they’re setting their sights on Australia, aiming to crack the top‑ten sellers by 2028. Ambitious? Absolutely. You should read more of the review, follow the link in the bio to Exhaustnotes

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 Calligraphy is Hyundai’s biggest EV yet — a massive three-row electric SUV packed with tech, luxury and serious space.

In this quick review I check out the design, the ultra-premium interior and whether this electric family bus actually lives up to the hype… or if it’s just a very expensive people mover.

Let’s have a quick yarn about it.

There are cars that arrive politely, knock on the door, and wait to be let in. Then there’s the 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 9 Calligraphy, which doesn’t announce its arrival at all. It just materialises in your driveway like a stealthy electric ninja.

It rearranges your verandah furniture and stares at you with pixelated headlights that whisper, “I’m the future. Try to keep up”. This is Hyundai’s electric flagship SUV, and it knows it. It doesn’t strut, it glides. It doesn’t shout, it hums – smugly. Read more of the review at

Chery Australia is doing something different with its upcoming ute launch. Instead of revealing the name themselves, they’re letting Australians decide.

The new ute, currently known as KP31, is expected to become the world’s first plug-in hybrid diesel ute, combining traditional diesel capability with electrified efficiency. Chery says it’s being developed with Australian lifestyles in mind and will offer 1,000 kg payload capacity and 3.5-tonne towing.

To choose the name, Chery has launched the Great Australian Chery Ute Naming Competition. Participants submit a name and a short explanation of why it fits the vehicle. Chery will shortlist the best entries before a public vote decides the final name.

The best part?
Whoever submits the winning name will win the new ute when it launches in Australia later this year.

Entries close 26 March 2026.

The new Audi Q6 e-tron Sportback has arrived, and it might be one of the most interesting electric SUVs Audi has built yet.

Sleek Sportback styling, Audi’s new digital lighting tech, a high-tech interior full of screens, and instant electric torque. It’s quiet, quick, and properly premium — exactly what you’d expect when Audi decides to do EVs properly.

Is this the sweet spot in Audi’s new electric lineup?

Polestar 5 just did its first public skid. On ice. In the Alps. While wearing a Gran Turismo costume.
650kW of electric grunt, zero traction, maximum send. The kind of conditions where your average ute would be crying for a sn**ch strap and a Bunnings run.
Even Kaz from Gran Turismo rocked up — first time at FAT Ice Race, apparently. Had a lap with a Swedish driver, came out grinning. Said EVs have “driving pleasure that can only be achieved with electric.” Mate’s been making racing games since before half of us were born, so he probably knows a thing or two.
The future’s not just electric. It’s sideways.
