A friend posted a pic of these toadstools on her page today and when I commented she let me know where they were, so before I picked Phoebe up from school, I grabbed some of her red clothes (thanks to that time I bought red for book week so she could be Clifford) and planned a little after school visit to take some photos.
To my surprise Phoebe was totally up for being my model (without coercion 😅) and told me I could post the pics! 😍
What a popular little spectacle these magical mushrooms were! While we were shooting about 5 other cars stopped to take a look as well, they’ve almost made a complete fairy ring… or Smurf village.
One of the teachers from Phoebe’s school stopped and may have mentioned the scientific name, but he wasn’t sure and there’s no way I would have remembered it anyway! Surely a fungi fanatic will drop it here for us?
Jason, the guy who’s front yard these are in, came to chat and told us that he’s seen a few pop up under the pines in the past, but this was the biggest Troop he’s seen. (I googled “what is a group of mushrooms called”😅)
Look at my kid though, the mushrooms are cool but she’s the star of the show. 🥹🍄🍄
