Let's talk weather. π§π§π§ And how to make the best of rain on your wedding day...
Alanis Morissette would have you believe that there's irony in having bad weather on your big day, that somehow it can overpower the happiness and joy with its gloominess.
I totally disagree.
Maybe it's repeat viewings of The Notebook and that iconic kiss in the rain π But rain for me = peak romance.
It absolutely doesn't have to spell disaster!
Just take Carly and Dion's nuptials for example. A quick change in forecast left them no option but to continue their outdoor ceremony, so everyone donned their umbrellas, went with the flow and let the weather be a testament that nothing could get in the way of how much these two love each other. The results... some seriously unmatched romantic shots.
So here's some quick tips if you're faced with the same dilemma.
β‘οΈClear Umbrellas are a must. I keep a stash in my car for these exact scenarios. Whether it's during the ceremony or portrait session, they're a photogenic addition to keep the rain away from hair and make-up.
β‘οΈFlat enclosed shoes. For the most part wedding gowns tend to cover up what's on your feet. Which is perfect when it's raining! If you're keen to brave the weather for portraits, having flats will stop you from sinking into wet grass, like you might with heels on!
β‘οΈMoody-intimate-photo goodness. When wind gets thrown in the mix and umbrellas are useless, let's head indoors and harness corridors, stairwells and windows to capture some intimate and raw moments with real soul.
β‘οΈPrep some warmth for you and your guest. We're talking blankets, hot drinks and plenty of excuses to cuddle up to one another π
β‘οΈBut most importantly... keep a positive attitude!!! Stay focused on what the day is really about - your amazing connection and love worth shouting from rooftops! It's a celebration and don't let anything sway you from that π
