I think this is what I love most about photographing families with little ones. It’s never just one thing.

It’s playful and wild and busy and full, a bit messy, a bit cheeky, sometimes very much not going to plan. And then somewhere in the middle of all that, it softens.

Someone reaches for you. Someone needs to be held. Everyone settles for half a second and the magic starts to unfold a little.

I’m not here to force kids into something they’re not vibing with. If they’re not having it, we move on, follow their lead, and let the good stuff unfold from there.
I’m just trying to create the space needed for your family to relax and be where you are.

That’s the stuff I want to photograph. The essence of it. Not just how this season looked, but how it felt. 🌱

I think there are two reasons people take photographs.
The first is for right now.
To hold onto this season you’re living in; the people, the closeness, the way life feels in this moment.
But the second reason doesn’t reveal itself until years later.
One day these photos will resurface again, and suddenly they’ll mean more than you ever realised when they were taken.
How lucky we are to be able to hold onto small pieces of our lives like this. 🤍

D & W planned a day that felt relaxed, meaningful and surrounded by their favourite people.
The rain showed up right as the ceremony began, but no one seemed too worried about it.
With friends and family travelling all the way from Ireland to be there, it was always going to be a good day ❤️

I don’t know if you know this…
but a family session isn’t really about the photos.

And it’s not just about the kids either (although they definitely steal the show sometimes).

One of the things I’m always looking for are the small moments between you all.
The way your child curls into you on the stairs.
The way everyone naturally piles onto the couch together.
The quick cuddles in the middle of everyday life.

You might think you’re just booking family photos.

But what I’m really hoping is that one day you’ll look back at these and see this season of your life exactly as it was. 🫶🏼

It’s a strange paradox in those early months with a new baby.
When you’re in the thick of it, learning your new rhythm, running on very little sleep, figuring it all out day by day it can be hard to just pause and take it in.
The days feel full and sometimes chaotic.
But somehow the months pass quickly too.
And later you find yourself wishing you could step back into these small moments for just a minute - the tiny hands, the cuddles, the quiet walks together.

If you’re in this season right now, give yourself a little grace. You’re doing better than you think. 💫
