Comet G3 Atlas on the evening of the 20th January. I tried to capture some images on the outskirts of Blackwater Qld. Unfortunately we have had so much cloud cover this was my only opportunity to take photos. To my disappointment I only manage to capture these few rushed shots. Not quite in focus but hopefully you’ll enjoy.

Carnarvon Gorge National Park. If you have never visited this wonderful part of Qld Australia, I'd certainly suggest you add it to your bucket list. So much beauty to see and take in while you explore what's on offer. Google it or drop into one off the local information centers in your area to get a better feel of what's on offer in the Central Highlands.

When passing through Comet Qld, stop and discover some of the past history. It was a frontier town and originally called Cometville. Back in 1878 it was noted that 1500 people lived here, mostly all railway workers working on the Great Northern Railway. Early explorer Ludwig Leichhardt passed through the area naming the Comet river and hence late the town was called Cometville in 1844.

The "Dig Tree" a tourist attraction is a must to take a look at. This Coolabah tree originally was growing on the junction of the Comet and Nogoa Rivers. The trunk was marked with the word 'DIG' in 1847 where Ludwig Leichhardt burried his journals in a canister.
