A month ago we had the pleasure of capturing Suhayl’s haldi ceremony! What started off as a calm morning turned into a chaos filled day with lots of haldi, friendly fire and of course great company. It was so fun to see everyone getting involved and getting their hands dirty to bless Suhayl for a successful wedding ahead. There was sibling rivalry, water/haldi fights and music; three things that should never be in one sentence. Safe to say it was a great day!

Chandan for the bride is always the quietest part of the whole wedding journey. After all the music, colour, and chaos of the earlier events, this one slows everything down. It was a nice morning, everyone was smiling and there was soft music. As a photographer, I find myself working a little differently here. Less movement, more patience. It’s about noticing the small things — her expression when she closes her eyes, smiles and the way she rests her hands. Another great event before the wedding begins!

One thing about Shawal’s haldi — nobody let him leave looking untouched. I got to capture all the madness from friends and family trying to put haldi on him; it was honestly like it’s a sport. My camera and I managed to stay clean but that’s what makes these events so fun to photograph though. Nothing feels forced. It’s just real reactions, nonstop laughter, and those little moments with family.

We had about 5 minutes of calmness… then suddenly there was music blasting and haldi flying everywhere. Between the laughter, the chaos, and everyone trying not to ruin their outfits, there’s something really special about how raw and happy these moments feel. Photographing a haldi is never just about the ceremony itself — it’s the in-between moments, the hidden smiles, the messy hands, and the people around her making sure she feels all the love before the wedding begins.
