Here's the latest member of our family - our new puppy, Olive. We've had her for three weeks now and she's definitely made herself at home! 😁 (Sound on!)

Remember me? Sorry about the scarcity of updates on this page, but the truth is that I use Facebook as little as possible these days. In fact I'm hardly on any social media at all - Twitter and TikTok accounts were deleted several years ago and Instagram about 18 months ago - and I am a much nicer person for it! So yes, this page is hanging on by its finger nails, but until then, here's a rather lovely sunset at Gerroa on Saturday night.

Happy Australia day folks. Here's a photo I took on Australia Day-eve down at Gerroa. The lads, as you can see, were tripping the light fantastic on a very warm summer's evening.

Here's a view you've almost certainly never seen before. This is the amazing Pigeon House Creek, which as been winding its way through the Morton National Park for a mere 23 million years now, snaking its way through this stunning gorge before joining the Clyde River to the south. In the distance you can see Pigeon House (Didthul) Mountain. We walked in on the Rusden Head track today and enjoyed stunning scenery, amazing wildlife and a window onto a thankfully unchanged wilderness.

There wasn't much interest in the Hutchinson household in attending the annual fireworks at the Berry showground, but we all agreed we fancied doing something. So my awesome wife Catherine came up with a cracking idea - why not drive up one of the hills overlooking the town and photograph the fireworks with a zoom lens. Genius idea I think you'll agree.

So we all decided to do precisely that. We drove up Woodhill Mountain earlier in the evening and found a perfect spot with a pull-in to park the car in and a nice gap through the trees looking down to the showground, just over five kilometres away. And then, as hundreds of locals did circuits around the showground looking for a parking spot, Catherine, Josh and I drove up the hill and waited.

The mozzies were certainly not slow in descending on us, but it was a beautifully tranquil experience watching the distant fireworks and hearing the very faint crowd noises. Got some cracking shots, with a unique perspective and enjoyed the whole thing with no crazy crowds and an easy escape home.

Wishing you and yours an equally tranquil 2026.

There are some epic dramatic sea caves on the Pacific side of Jervis Bay. These ones are on the southern side in Booderee National Park. Such a stunning and wild location.

On the eastern edge of Booderee National Park you can find Cape St George. It's a dramatic bit of coastline and coincidentally a great place to go whale watching during the migratory seasons.
