I captured this 29 image pano during golden hour mid September last year, as the last warm light of the day swept across the island, this image reveals Lord Howe Island at its most magical.
The setting sun lighting up the rugged peaks of Mounts Lidgbird & Gower with the pristine shorelines of the beaches below, I was happy as I knew I had captured a moment in time, a not so often seen perspective of the island that we have both come to love and somewhat feels like a spiritual home.
Looking at it now, the island seems to glow from within, offering a glimpse of the extraordinary place my wife Belinda Gibson will very soon call home.

Standing on Intermediate Hill and looking south-east toward Mount Lidgbird, it is impossible not to be struck by the immense scale and isolation of Lord Howe Island. More often than not the two mountains have incredible cloud formations and almost their own weather svstem. To the south Balls Pyramid sticks out if the ocean like its trying to reach the sky. To the west, the lagoon glows in shades of jade and turquoise, its waters so clear they seem almost unreal. To the north-east in the distance the rugged Admiralty Islands stand off Ned's Beach, surrounded by the vast Pacific Ocean. The sheer abundance of endemic plants, ancient trees, and unique wildlife makes this island a living sanctuary unlike any other place on Earth. Wild yet delicate, remote yet welcoming, Lord Howe Island remains one of the world's most pristine and beautiful natural treasures. I simply cannot wait to be there again.....

An island alone, yet never lonely.

Surrounded by restless seas and ever-changing skies, Mutton Bird Island sits peacefully. The waves come and go on the ever shifting sands. The clouds gather and disappear. The wind caresses the tall tussock grass across the dunes and yet the world stands still for that fleeting moment so we can listen to what is really important........

Wild meets Calm - Standing there with the persistent lingering drizzle still present in the air, restless waves rolling in with the sun finally breaking through, warm rays lighting up the ocean and wet sand like gold. The low cloud slowly starts its retreat up Transit Hill.....this was a quiet moment where wild meets calm.
