I’m very excited to announce that I’ll be presenting at the Night Photo Summit in February 2026. This incredible event will bring together many of the very best night photographers and artists from around the world.

If you’re passionate about capturing the stars, nightscapes or experimenting with light painting, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. My presentation will look at the differences between capturing single images, stacking images or using a star tracker. I’ll be showing lots of examples.

"Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park - New Zealand"
This is the view of the setting milky way galaxy over the first swing bridge on the track to Ho**er Lake. The beautiful blue river water flows peacefully downstream as if into the teeth of the distant aurora that made a surprise appearance on the night.
If you look carefully you'll see a number of people from our photography group scattered around the scene .. both admiring the majestic view and taking images themselves.
What a magnificent adventure this was.
This is a blended panorama all shot from a fixed tripod position. No tracking.

A total of 30 images went into the construction of this image.

Dead Tree Panorama
This gnarly old tree sits on flat ground just near the base of Mitre Rock in the Western Grampians in Victoria Australia. The milky way galaxy was rising over the landscape so myself and my friend Geoff Sharpe set about tracking the beautifully clear night sky.
It was fairly calm night and I had no trouble getting the shots with the MSM Nomad tracker.

"Sheep Hills Silo Aurora"

Just like everybody else I was out chasing the magnificent aurora display last Saturday night. Initially it was pretty cloudy in Central Victoria so I pointed the car west and kept driving.
I would stop many times on my journey to capture the dancing lights but eventually I made my way to the Sheep Hills Silos .... which is literally in the middle of nowhere.
Just after arriving another aurora pulse burst forth and the sky glowed a magnificent red, pink & green. It was literally stretching from east to west so I did my best to capture the sheer size of it by shooting this panorama.

You just can't beat a rising milky way galactic core down here in the Southern Hemisphere. Everywhere you look there are amazing things to see.
On this occasion I wanted to test the Nikon Zf coupled up to the Benro Polaris to create a panorama.
This isn't a tracked pano but rather 9 images made up of static single exposures. The Polaris handled this with ease and I also think the Zf did a great job as well. No issues with connection to the Polaris at all.

This is the MSM Nomad star tracker. I've been using this baby for a while now and tomorrow I'll be releasing a video looking at the features of this amazing little tracker.
Will it be replacing my existing trackers . .?? Well you'll have to tune in tomorrow to find that out.

"Moonlit Summer"

This is the view we see here in Australia during our summer. On this occasion there was a crescent moon illuminating the foreground from the right side. . but the foreground shot was also taken just as the dark was descending over the land. I really wanted to highlight the large stump and therefore the focus is on that, but I also love the old water tank on the right side.
I just can't get enough of these rustic farm scenes.
The sky is the awesome and amazing constellation of Orion . .everybody's favourite ..!!!
