Craigs Hut. Originally built as a prop in the early 1980s for the movie ''The Man From Snowy River. After the movie, the hut was left to deteriorate. Due to popularity with visitors to the area, it was decided the hut was to be rebuilt. This replacement hut burnt down in 2006 by bushfire caused by a lightning strike. It was again rebuilt in 2007 with traditional methods, and using more durable lumber like redgum and ironbark by the Mansfield 4x4 Club. Spectacular views! and a campsite within walking distance. It was a beautifully, peaceful place to visit and camp. Apart from the drive up, where your ass is trying to hold onto the seat. Then even more on the way out via Monument track. Oh s**t.

Mr. Big. I'd say an adolescent Wedge-tailed Eagle. Circling above us while walking around Terrick-Terrick National Park. Full grown adults can have a wingspan of 2.8 metres, and they can be standing a metre tall.

Mt Abrupt. After Boronia Peak the day before. My legs were killing me. But I still had one more mountain to do. To be honest, I didn't think I would make it. Once at the top, you become very rewarded.

Heatherlie Quarry. Grampians Freestone. A high grade of Sandstone was found here in the 1860's by Francis Watkins while exploring. Being an Irish Stonemason, he took out a lease on the land, and an operational quarry was established by the 1870's. The stone was first hauled by bullock and dray, with stones weighing around 4-5000kg which was very hard work, as the track as very sandy in summer and very boggy in winter. Stone from this Quarry was used to build the Roman Catholic Church, Court house, Town-hall as well as headstones in Stawell. By 1882 a rail line was connected between the Quarry and Stawell, and was capable of moving stone up to 11,000kg. Which then the stone was chosen to build some of Australia's major buildings. Such as Parliament House, Melbourne's town hall, State library, GPO, Regent Theatre and Port Authority Building. among others. By the 1890's it employed 100 men, but after the Second World War, orders for stone ceased, many men were laid off. A great place to walk around and have a look at the old steam boilers that were used to power the cranes. Tanks for compressed air, and remnants of an and old railway line, explosive pits, and sandstone cottages that some of the workers built and lived in. you can still see drill marks in the stone and evidence of the ancient Egyptian method of 'plug and feathering' to split the stone, as explosives wasted too much.
