A few weeks ago, I was incredibly honoured to be invited back to the school I attended growing up to photograph a special cultural photoshoot.
Without hesitation, I jumped at the opportunity. This is the kind of project I’ve dreamed of doing for a very long time; something meaningful, community-focused, and centred around celebrating culture, connection, and family.
Last Thursday afternoon, over a period of just two hours, we photographed 22 sessions back-to-back. I’ll admit, I had never attempted anything on that scale before, and I was a little nervous about how it would all come together. But from the moment we started, everything flowed so naturally. The afternoon was filled with laughter, pride, beautiful conversations, and so much positive energy. It ended up running smoother than I ever could have hoped and turned into one of the most rewarding shoots I’ve been part of.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Aunty Boo for trusting me with this opportunity and welcoming me into something so special. It was an absolute privilege to capture these moments for our Indigenous families and to create images that I hope will be treasured for many years to come.
Seeing families come together, proudly representing their culture and creating memories with one another, was truly beautiful to witness. Every single session was unique in its own way, and I walked away feeling so grateful to have been a part of it all.
This is just one of the many beautiful families I had the honour of photographing that afternoon.
