Oh. My. Goodness. I'm like a kid at Christmas. I'm a member of a couple of Southern Aurora groups on FB and I saw an alert the other night that there was hopefully going to be some Aurora Australis activity that evening.

I quickly threw everything in the car, hopped in and drove an hour south just to catch the tail end of the amazing light show. This has been a bucket list item for a looooong time and stoked to have captured even just the tiniest bit of this display.

There's a couple of predications for some more activity early next month so I am crossing everything that will be the case as I will be leaving Vic shortly ready to go on to my next adventure and would love one more shot at the title.

Russell Falls and Lady Barron Falls from our recent trip. It was quite the novelty hiking in all my winter gear instead of the bare minimum I usually wear for the tropics!

I've not long spend an amazing 10 days in Tassie for work. Thankfully I was able to wrangle a couple of days off to explore the stunning country side.

Here's one from a trip up Cradle Mountain which still had snow at some of the higher altitudes which was awesome to see and play in.

I'm still here!

This year, so far at least, I haven't been feeling overly inspired by photography. I seem to go through phases like that where I'm not feeling very motivated to take photos. Especially when my other hobbies are taking priority.

I've just finished a 7 month stint at the NT side of the Gulf of Carpentaria where every available opportunity was spent fishing and taking photos of said fish and not the landscape I was surrounded by.

I'm hoping now that I'll be travelling around a bit more I'll feel more inspired and have the urge to pick up my proper camera for some intentional photography.

In the meantime though here's a phone photo I captured while I was fishing on the Bellarine Peninsula of a little snippet of landscape that caught my eye.

Another more photojournalistic one from me this time. Aaron and I have just finished up doing a 7 week stint working at the Devils Marbles Hotel. If you're in the neighbourhood make sure you check out the Devils Marbles and stop in at the Hotel. There's a dog friendly camp ground, cabins and an award winning restaurant.

I was completely spoilt photography wise. Amazing sunrises and sunsets, moody skies, and a landscape that always inspired. The owner of the Hotel is updating the website so asked me to do some pictures of the Hotel as well as some of the food. I didn't think I'd be doing real estate photography again so soon and first time ever doing food photography.

Heading out I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. We had never been that remote for so long before but what an amazing experience it was and I didn't feel like Iacked for anything. Neither of us had ever worked in hospitality but we quickly found our feet and reckon I now do a pretty good pour of a beer! Had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to some amazing people along the way as well.

All in all had a great time and will look upon the experience fondly and have made some great friends. Though, I am looking forward to seeing the coast line again!

Talk about the 11th hour photo op!

I had this shoot in mind for a long while but either the conditions weren't right, too much cloud, too much moon or I was working.

Finally snagged a cloudless night and headed out just before sunset to get the exposure for the foreground then set up my camera to take 350 photos for the star trails which took a couple of hours.

It was quite magical sitting out in the desert, lit only by the moonlight laying on a rock still warm from the day , listening to the sounds of nature and just enjoying the moment for what it was.

My time is nearly up at the Marbles and I saw what was the makings of a good sunset the other night so ducked out for some photos. The is one of my favourites from the evening.

I saw someone the other day post their top 10 for 2021 which I thought was a great idea so here are mine from 2021 that have some great memories attached.

2021 was a big year of changes for Aaron and I and a big year of photography for me where I used my camera to take photos of my choosing more than I have a in a long time so it was hard narrowing them down!

I've put a little story on each photo saying why it made the cut :)

I realised the other day this is now the longest I have ever been away from the ocean or a large body of water. Although I'm not really a swimmer I do feel an affinity to water whether it be to spend time out on the boat, hiking along, or to, or even just be close to. I still have another few weeks in the desert so I will have to make do with going through some old photos.

This one I took a couple of months ago and is quite heavily manipulated in photoshop as it was taken with a purpose in mind which was to be the photo for the vinyl wrap on our new boat but as it turned out, it was one of those ideas that was better in theory but it turned out to be a good learning experience!

And finally a bit of time lapse fun before I sign off for the next couple of days.

Have a great break everyone!

Another one from the storm the other night. It was pretty amazing as it hung around in the distance for ages and at one point there were several storms all the way around. I didn't know which direction to point my camera!

This is the result of just one photo I took but have a squizz in the comments and I'll post a photo which is a composite image from the night which is about 40 different photos merged into one so lots of lightning!

A stormy sunset.
