Brenner came to me because of my personal work, not my client portfolio. For any creative, that’s a gift.

She was launching The Conservation Collage Project and knew she needed imagery to support something she felt deeply passionate about. But she was hesitant to show her face. But we’d built up a lot of trust.. so she did it anyway.

We started in her tropical backyard in the Atherton Tablelands and ended the day wading into a glowing creek in Mareeba as the sun dropped below the gum trees.

walked away with a collection of photographs and videos she loves. If you’ve been putting off a shoot because it feels like too much, send me a DM.

Autumn has been pretty magnificent these last few weeks.

We’ve been been cutting wood, lighting fires, watching the garden do its last big show before it rests. And in between all of that I’ve been doing this five minute practice I picked up from audiobook, The Brain That Breathes.

Jodi calls it soft fascination. Letting your eyes land on something ordinary and just… staying there for a bit. Letting your mind wander and come back.

I’ve been practicing it in the garden, outside of my office window with the clouds and the stars, which feel impossibly clear right now.

It’s a small thing. But it’s been feeding something in me that gets depleted when I stay too close to a screen.

This morning, nothing planned.
Just an hour in the garden with my youngest.

Autumn is my favourite time here. Everything feels full. The grass is green again, the fruit trees are producing, the flowers are doing their thing, and the light… it’s that softer, lower, golden kind that only lasts a short window.

We watered the elderberries I planted yesterday, picked Lilly Pilly’s, watched the usual cat and dog chaos (in a tree), and just wandered.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about space.
Not scheduled “creative time”, but the kind that just opens up on its own. The kind where you follow something because it feels good, not because it’s productive.

I’ve realised how much that feeds my work.
When I don’t leave room for moments like this, everything starts to feel a bit flat.

It’s a constant balance. Work, life, kids, everything in between.
But mornings like this remind me why it matters.

I’ve been quite on here lately because life and work have be very full and because scrolling doesn’t give me space, it fills it.

… But I miss the social interactions, I’ve met so many amazing people here 🧡

To me, the places I inhabit are an essential part of my process as an artist, where that sense of memory echoes throughout my work.”
– Lorna, artist and creative

Cannery Wharf in Eden is one of those places for Lorna.
It’s where the first ocean swim of the season brings her senses awake. Where the tide leaves behind fleeting marks in the sand. Where scratches on the jetty read like quiet stories.

It’s a place of swimming, collecting, walking, remembering. A place that draws her back again and again.

This series is part of my ongoing film project Held , where I photograph women in the places they feel most grounded, connected, and whole.

Process - I capture the subject’s special spot in nature on black-and-white film, then rewind the film, and then take portraits of the subject against a plane background onto of the original photos- see bts video in some of the slides. The results are random magical.

I’d love to know which photo resonates more with you? When I’m in my own bubble working solo, it’s good to hear what other people think and feel.

The gift of looking back..

Sometimes I wonder if I take too many photos of the everyday. If it gets in the way of just being present.

But then I find scans like these, shot on film before we built the house, when we were still living between the caravan and the barn, and I’m immediately transported...

- Breakfast time, french toast, with dahlias & picked fruit
- Tiny chubby hands, shaping Play-Doh.
- Toilet training with drawing time for two.
- Kids playing with ‘little kid’ toys.
- Nanna and the kids on the playground
- Rides with dad on the four wheeler

It wasn’t a fancy holiday or a milestone event. It was just life - our routine at the time, messy, ordinary and full.

And it reminds me how much magic there is in the everyday - I just wish that sometimes it didn’t take hindsight to appreciate it!!

There’s just one week left before I’m officially back at work, and I honestly can’t believe how quickly these five weeks of school holidays have flown.

This summer has been a proper reset.

No client work, an autoresponder on, and time away from socials. I didn’t miss a thing.

I think the big shift this year is knowing I already have beautiful clients booked in for late January, February and even into March. In the past, it’s usually been April before people get around to booking. But this year, these forward bookings gave me breathing space, no need to hustle.

A few highlights I’ll treasure:

- Early morning wanders around the garden
- Dam swims with the kids
- My youngest’s slip ‘n slide birthday (and my first ice cream cake!)
- Plum season… roadside finds, homegrown harvests, preserving, jam-making, eating them by the handful
- Watching my eldest connect with the sweetest horse, Cash via amazing sessions
- Butter making, salad dinners, figs warmed by the sun
- Pool days (so many this year, the wind kept us inland)
- Family time, deck hangs, garden work, and lots of soaking it all in.

Hope your summer had some stillness too x

Back soon, camera in hand 🧡

Getting on camera isn’t easy, it feels awkward, uncomfortable, even a bit cringey.

But what we’ve both noticed is that when you push through that little bit of discomfort and make space for creative side projects, there’s so much joy waiting on the other side.

In this clip from our first ‘The Full Life’ podcast episode, we talk about moving through the awkwardness of showing up creatively and what happens when you do.

It’s been a while since I introduced myself properly. So here’s a little about who I am, what I do, and how life and work intertwine around here creative chaos and all.

If you’re new here, welcome.
And if you’ve been following for a while, thank you. I’m so glad you’re here. X

A little something for the side (to accompany your drink!)

This is such a simple formula for joy, dip topped with spicy delicious, fresh and bright toppings.. Save if for next time friends come round. Just add some warm crusty sourdough and something to wash it down. Cocktail ideal…

Lake Como is one of those places you’ve heard about your whole life… so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Sometimes the places that are most celebrated can feel underwhelming when you finally arrive.

But this wasn’t one of them.

It felt like stepping into something between a dream and a fairytale, steep mountains plunging straight into the lake, buildings clinging to the hillsides, alleyways twisting through towns, and glacial water running through it all. My partner and I kept commenting on how the hell all this was built on such steep mountains and was still standing after hundreds of years.

We stayed in a quiet spot and when I wasn’t shooting Nadine’s Floral Retreat, we spent our time wandering through cobbled lanes, photographing coloured buildings, and framing the lake through windows and archways.

Just outside the touristy areas we found meadows full of wildflowers, church bells ringing in the distance, cows wearing bells, and tiny mountain towns that felt like another world.

All of these were shot on colour film - I loved carrying the super light camera room with me compared to my digital. Plus it makes me slow down.
